Ousmane
Barro
Denain ASC Voltaire (ProB) inked 29-year old Senegalese power forward Ousmane Barro (207-111kg-84, college: Marquette). He played most recently at Targu Mures in Romanian Liga Nationala. In 25 games he averaged 9.0ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.2bpg last season. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Barro also played at Tochigi Brex (NBL) in Japanese league that season. In 13 games he had 5.7ppg and 3.7rpg.
He ended the previous (2011-12) season at Entente Orleans 45 (ProA). In 5 games he had just 2.4ppg and 2.8rpg. But the most of that year Barro spent at JL Bourg. In 33 games he had 14.9ppg, 8.5rpg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals.
The previous (10-11) season Barro played at Zob Ahan (Superleague) in Iran.
In 2009-10 season he played at Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (A Division) in Hungarian league. In 34 games he had very impressive stats: 15.6ppg, 10.1rpg (leader !!!), 1.2apg, 1.9spg and 1.2bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Defensive Player of the Year, Center of the Year and selected to 1st Team. Barro represented Senegal at the WABA Club Championships two years ago.
He has played also professionally in Poland (Gornik).
Barro attended Marquette University until 2008 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
His game is described as: Ousmane's size and athleticism is very exciting to all of us, but his commitment, personality and work ethic are what we believe will eventually help him become an excellent player. Ousmane understands the value of hard work and has made a commitment to getting better. What he lacks in game experience, he makes up for in his willingness and desire to learn and improve. Some of the skills that standout for him basketball-wise are his incredible ability to run the floor, his 6-10 height and 7-2 wingspan, a desire and willingness to rebound and score inside, as well as continued improvement facing the basket.
