There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NM1. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Top ranked Orchesien BC (23-5) recorded its fifth loss on the court of sixth ranked Monaco on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Monaco 79-73. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Orchesien BC. Orchesien BC trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 14-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-79 at the end of the game. Monaco had a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-82) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (205-85, college: Purdue) chipped in 11 points and 11 assists. Monaco's coach Jean-Michel Senegal used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Djordje Petrovic (204-84) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Monaco (17-11) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cognac. Orchesien BC at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Monaco is looking forward to face Vendee Challans (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orchesien BC will play against Blois (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
Twelfth-ranked Angers BC 49 (11-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked Souffelweyersheim (20-9). The visitors from Souffel. managed to secure only three-point victory 63-60. However their fans expected much easier game. Naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (201-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. Abdoulaye N'Diaye contributed with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89) replied with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Angers BC 49. Souffelweyersheim maintains second position with 20-9 record having just two points less than leader Orchy, which they share with Vichy. Angers BC 49 at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with St Chamond. Souffelweyersheim will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Angers BC 49 will play on the road against Quimper UJAP (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Blois between Blois and Quimper UJAP. Fourth ranked Blois (18-10) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Quimper UJAP (16-13). Blois managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Saturday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Jonathan Tornato who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds. Corey Raji responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Blois maintains fourth position with 18-10 record. Loser Quimper UJAP dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Blois will meet league's leader Orchesien BC in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Quimper UJAP will play against Angers BC 49 (#12) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-28) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-63 loss to fourteenth ranked Vendee Challans (10-18) in Challans. The winners were led by Fabien Herard who scored that evening 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Vendee Challans' coach Olivier Le Minor felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vendee Challans maintains fourteenth position with 10-18 record. CFBB at the other side still closes the standings. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be higher ranked Monaco (#6) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CFBB will play against La Rochelle (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Important game to mention about took place in Sorgues. Fifth ranked Cognac (17-11) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Sorgues (13-15) 100-97 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Jean-Philippe Ludon who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Cognac maintains fifth position with 17-11 record, which they share with Monaco. Loser Sorgues keeps the tenth place with 15 games lost. Cognac will face Chartres (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Sorgues will play against Saint Chamond.

In the last two games of round 32 Rueil was defeated by Chartres in a road game 85-75. Rennes was smashed by Vichy at home 47-74.


Monaco - Orchy 79-73

However their fans expected much easier game. Angers BC 49 was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 37-33 second half run of Souffelweyersheim. They outrebounded Angers BC 49 44-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (201-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Abdoulaye N'Diaye (210-84, college: USC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. A very close game took place in Blois between Blois and Quimper UJAP. Fourth ranked Blois (18-10) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Quimper UJAP (16-13). Blois managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 26-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Blois forced 20 Quimper UJAP turnovers and outrebounded them 47-26 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jonathan Tornato (210-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds and Finnish forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82) who added 14 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Nigerian forward Corey Raji (198-88, college: Boston Coll., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Spanish point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 16 points and 9 assists. Four Blois and five Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Blois maintains fourth position with 18-10 record. Loser Quimper UJAP dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Chartres dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Rueil's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists.
