Top ranked Orchesien BC (23-6) recorded its sixth loss in Orchies on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Blois (19-10) 91-89. The best player for the winners was guard Gary Staelens (189-84) who scored 25 points. Finnish forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American Tony Stanley (193-77, college: Dayton) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds. Blois maintains fourth place with 19-10 record. Orchesien BC at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Blois are looking forward to face Monaco (#6) at home in the next round. Orchesien BC will play against Angers BC 49 (#13) and is hoping to win this game.

Damien Inglis (203-95) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds for CFBB. La Rochelle moved-up to seventh place. CFBB at the other side still closes the standings. La Rochelle will play against Vendee Challans (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CFBB will play against JA Vichy and hopes to get finally their first victory.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Saint Chamond, where 10th ranked Sorgues (13-16) was outleveled in a road game by thirteenth ranked Saint Chamond (12-17) 72-49 on Saturday. Jean-Stephane Rinna stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Ryan Zamroz with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Saint Chamond moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Chartres. Sorgues lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Saint Chamond will meet Chartres (#11) on the road in the next round. Sorgues will play against the league's second-placed Souffelweyersheim where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

Other games of round 33 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Challans was defeated by Monaco in a road game 89-71. Cognac beat Chartres at home 59-54. Rennes lost to Rueil on the opponent's court 74-85. Quimper managed to outperform Angers BC 49 in a home game 84-68.
The best stats of 33th round was 24 points and 6 rebounds by Alex Okafor of Rennes.


La Rochelle - CFBB 81-67

Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-29) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-67 loss to eighth ranked La Rochelle (17-12) in La Rochelle. The game was mostly controlled by La Rochelle. CFBB was better in fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Rochelle dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to CFBB's 36. It was a good game for American forward Jarryd Cole (204-88, college: Iowa) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. There was no surprise when 14th ranked Vendee Challans (10-19) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Monaco (18-11) 89-71 on Saturday. Monaco made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. American center Jason Jones (203-86, college: Northeastern St.) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Moustafa Diallo (187-80) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Monaco's coach Jean-Michel Senegal used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was center Nils Gouacide (208-84) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) scored 14 points. Monaco moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cognac. Loser Vendee Challans keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Monaco will meet higher ranked Blois (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vendee Challans will play against La Rochelle (#7) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Cognac (18-11) defeated at home 11th ranked Chartres (12-17) 59-54 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 18-2 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Cognac dominated on the defensive end, holding Chartres to just 2 points in fourth quarter. Sadio Doucoure (195-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and guard Cedric Bertorelle (198-78) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Union Rennes managed to win fourth quarter 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rueil forced 23 Union Rennes turnovers and outrebounded Union Rennes 43-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists.
