Tariq
Kirksay
Bucaneros de La Guaira (LPB) landed 34-year old French international forward Tariq Kirksay (199-102kg-79, college: Iona). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Kirksay played recently at Asefa Estudiantes Madrid in Spanish ACB league. In 33 games he averaged 9.5ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.4apg and 1.7spg this season. The last season he played at Sutor Montegranaro (SerieA) in Italian league. In 13 games he had 6.8ppg, 5.6rpg, 2.7apg and 2.6spg.
The previous (10-11) season Kirksay played at Cajasol (ACB) in Spain. In 32 games he had 7.7ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.9spg that season. He also played 16 games in Eurocup where he had 10.3ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.8apg and 2.3spg (leader !!!).
In 2000 Kirksay was drafted by Long Island Surf (USBL) in first round (7th overall).
He attended Iona College and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Kirksay's team won Russian Cup in 2009. He received also Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup 1st Team award in 2011. Kirksay represented France at the Qualifications to European Championships 2009 five years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 4.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg, 1.8spg.
Kirksay is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Argentina (San Martin de La Rioja), Mexico, France (Sluc Nancy, Besancon, Rueil and JL Bourg) and Russia (Unics Kazan).
Let's have closer look into Kirksay's outlook: The classic all-around player, who can be used at almost every position on the court and has the ability to fill up every statistical cathegory. His great international and minor leagues experience helps him to adapt well to every situation.

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of French who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, agency: Octagon Europe). He could not help one of league's weakest teams CB Canarias (22-10) in their last game. Despite Kirksay's very good performance CB Canarias lost 65-79 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Unicaja Malaga.    [read more]
