Slovenia overcame a slow start to beat Georgia at the 2013 EuroBasket. The hosts of the tournament won 72:68 and remained undefeated.
Georgia started the game better and led in the whole first period. An 8-0 run midway through the first period gave them 16-7 lead, while Tskitishvili later scored for 19-10. Joksimovic nailed three at the end of the first period, while Dragic gave Slovenia 19-15 early in the second period. Georgi Tsintsadze (192-PG-86) brought the biggest lead for Georgia at 26:15, but his team could not win the game. Slovenia erupted with a 16-0 run and grabbed 31:26 early in the second period. Erazem Lorbek (209-F/C-84, college: Michigan St.) and Lakovic nailed threes for 39:30 and then Slovenia continued their dominance. Blazic and Shermadini exchanged the baskets at 46:35 and then Shermadini scored both free throws for 48:39. Patsatsia closed the third period at 54:46 as Slovenia won the quarter 14-10. Georgia however was too far to give up. Richard Hickman (189-PG-85, college: NC-Greensboro) and Viktor Sanikidze (203-F-86) reduced to 58:56 as Georgia started the last period with a 10-4 run. Blazic gave Slovenia a 60:56 advantage and then the host managed to keep 4-point victory.
Erazem Lorbek stepped up with 18 points and Zoran Dragic (196-F/G-89) netted 12. Goran Dragic (190-PG-86) delivered 11, whilst Bostjan Nachbar (207-PF-80) had 7. Richard Hickman replied with 19 points in a loss, whilst Viktor Sanikidze had 17. Manuchar Markoishvili (196-SF-86) and Georgi Tsintsadze produced 10 points each.

Newly promoted CS Politehnica Unirea Iasi (Liga Nationala) landed 31-year old Georgian international point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-90kg-86). He played most recently at Kutaisi Kutaisi in Georgian Superleague. In 32 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 17.4ppg and recorded 5.1rpg, 7.0apg (leader !!!) and 2.1spg (in top 3) last season. Philadelphia 76ers signed 28-year old Georgian point guard Jacob Pullen (184-85kg-89, college: Kansas State). He is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Pullen played last season at BC Khimki Moscow Region in Russian VTB league. In 17 Eurocup games he had 10.3ppg, 1.2rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1spg. He helped them to make it to the quarterfinals. CB Cornella (EBA) tabbed 26-year old Georgian forward Davit Ioseliani (207-91). He played most recently at Mgzavrebi in Georgian Superleague, but left the team in Dec.'15. In 9 games he averaged 3.1ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.1apg in 2015-16 season. Among other achievements Ioseliani received Eurobasket.com All-Georgian League Newcomer of the Year award back in 2008.
