Georgia will be without Tornike Shengelia (203-PF-91) at EuroBasket 2013. The player is to undergo knee surgery and will not play in Slovenia.
The last season Shengelia played at Springfield Armor in D-League. In 10 games he recorded very impressive stats: 24.3ppg, 8.2rpg, 4.0apg, 2.3spg and 1.0bpg.
The previous (11-12) season he played at Spirou Charleroi (Ethias League) in Belgium. In 41 games he averaged 8.4ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.0apg that season. He helped them to make it to the final. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Belgian League 2nd Team and All-Bosmans Team. Shengelia also played 12 games in Euroleague where he averaged 7.6ppg and 3.8rpg.
In 2010-11 season he played at VOO Verviers-Pepinster (Ethias League) in Belgium. In 32 games he averaged 6.5ppg and 4.1rpg. Part of previous (09-10) season Shengelia spent at Valencia Basket in Spanish league. In two Eurocup games he averaged 4.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg. He also played at Valencia Basket (EBA) in Spanish league earlier that season.
Last year Tornike Shengelia was drafted by Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in second round (54th overall). He represented Georgia at the Qualifications to European Championships 2013 last year. His stats at that event were 7 games: 13.7ppg, 7.6rpg, 1.6apg, 1.7spg, 1.1bpg, FGP: 56.7%, 3PT: 22.2%, FT: 55.0%.
Shengelia has played also professionally in Spain (Pamesa II Valencia).

Point guard Rob Woodson (180-PG, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sokhumi and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27. He had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Batumi (#7, 9-18) 83-77. Sokhumi maintains the 5th position in Georgian league. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Superleague. Sixth-ranked Olimpi (9-17) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Cactus Tbilisi (13-14) on Saturday. Cactus Tbilisi managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected easier game. Davit Maisuradze (205-C/F-90) had a great game in the last round for SEU Tbilisi and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com A League Player of the Week award for round 14. The 26-year old had the game-high 57 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for SEU Tbilisi in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Tskaltubo (#5, 5-9) with 27-point margin 109-82.
