Shooting guard Nika Ramishvili (179-SG-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Batumi, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. The 18-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, eight rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Samedicino (#10, 1-15) 81-73. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Batumi maintains the 9th position in Georgian Superleague. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 13 games and recorded just four victories. In the team's last game Ramishvili had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Batumi, through which he has constantly improved. Nika Ramishvili averages this season 14.9ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American Nate Bowie (183-G-86) of Rustavi. Bowie had a very good evening with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Bad luck as Rustavi was edged by slightly lower-ranked Kutaisi (#6, 10-7) 85-84. Rustavi managed to keep the same 4th spot in the standings. His team's 12-5 record is not bad at all. Bowie is a newcomer at Rustavi, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.1rpg and 5.1apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Rustavi's star - American forward Kyle Nelson (203-F-89, agency: N.E.T.). Nelson scored 21 points and grabbed nineteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Nelson's great performance Rustavi lost 84-85 to slightly lower-ranked Kutaisi (#6, 10-7). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The last thing Rustavi needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 5 lost games. Nelson has a great season in Georgia. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.6ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 9.1rpg (6th best). He also has FGP: 57.9% and 3PT: 42.0%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Lasha Parghalava (191-G-87) of Armia - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Davit Barbakadze (203-F-82) of Kutaisi - 28 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Zaur Pashayev (188-G-83) of Kutaisi - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists 7. Sergo Atvashovili (223-C-85) of Sokhumi - 20 points and 14 rebounds 8. Grigol Shvangiradze (196-F-91) of Sokhumi - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Stevan Milosevic (211-C-85) of Olimpi - 12 points and 15 rebounds 10. Konstantine Tomaradze (197-G-90) of Olimpi - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
