Sweden claimed a crucial win over Georgia in the classification round at the U20 European Championship. The Scandinavian team improved at 2-1 record in Group H and avoided relegation. They will now figth for the 13th overall position at the tournament. Georgia will play against relegation in the 17th-20th place classification round.
Georgia got to a slightly better start to the game. They ensured a 19:16 lead after the opening quarter. But Sweden erased the deficit in the second frame. The scoreboard read 35:35 at halftime. Sweden and Georgia exchanged baskets throughout the third term. They entered the fourth frame tied at 52-all. The lead changed hands for several times throughout the fourth frame. Finally Nicholas Spires (210-C-94) and Jonathan Person (190-PG-93) hit four points in a row and Sweden kept Georgia scoreless in the final three minutes of the game to snatch the victory. Niklas Larsson (199-SF-94) netted 15 points to lead Sweden. Nicholas Spires added 12 points and 15 boards, while Jonathan Person contributed 11 points for the winning side. Revaz Rogava (191-G-93) answered with 19 points for Georgia. Otar Pkhakadze (190-PG-93) had 16 points in the defeat.

The 3rd place holder of the Superleague 2017 is Rustavi. They defeated Cactus 93:85 and got the hit. The fate of the game was decided in the last period, but until then it was an equal game, changing the lead back and forth. In the 3rd period Rustavi managed to skip the difference in the score, as Cactus dominated before. They wasted the advantage and Rustavi played a more solid defensive style. Defending champion Real Madrid (Liga Endesa) is considering to sign 26-year old Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia (206-100kg-91) who currently plays Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz.
