Dirk Nowitzki's 33 points make him top German player abroad of the week - Mar 27, 2013

We bring you last week's top performances from Germans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk Nowitzki
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Dirk Nowitzki (213-78, currently plays in NBA). He led Dallas Mavericks to an overtime victory over the Los Angeles Clippers (48-23) 109-102 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. Nowitzki was MVP of the game. He recorded 33 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds in 39 minutes on the court. The Dallas Mavericks have 35-36 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Nowitzki's 15th year with the team. Nowitzki has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.9ppg, 6.9rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 47.7%, 3FGP: 43.1% and FT: 86.4% in the 42 games he played so far. Nowitzki played for the German senior national team two years ago.

Tibor Pleiss
Tibor Pleiss
#2. Second place goes to an international center Tibor Pleiss (215-89, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to a Caja Laboral's victory against one of league's weakest teams Lagun Aro GBC (7-19) 88-80 in the Spanish ACB last Saturday. Pleiss recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Caja Laboral Vitoria (20-6) is placed second in the ACB. It's Pleiss' first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 5.7ppg, 4.9rpg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 33.3%. Pleiss is in the roster of the German senior national team.

Chris Kaman
Chris Kaman
#3. The German player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Chris Kaman (213-82, college: Cent.Michigan, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dirk Nowitzki. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Kaman, who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Dallas Mavericks (35-36) in their last game. Despite Kaman's good performance the Dallas Mavericks were badly defeated 113-96 on the road by the Brooklyn Nets. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Kaman also added 4 rebounds in 21 minutes. Kaman has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg, 5.5rpg, 2FGP: 50.9% and FT: 78.8% in the 56 games. He is a naturalized American. Kaman played for the German national team two years ago. Strangely he has never played in Germany.

Elias Harris
Elias Harris
#4. Forward Elias Harris (203-89, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Gonzaga (16-0) in their last game. Despite Harris' good performance the Gonzaga lost 70-76 at home to the Wichita State University. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. The National Tournament Round 3 already ended in the NCAA. Harris is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Gonzaga's roster. This season Harris has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.5apg in the 26 games. He is also German national team player.

Tilo Klette
Tilo Klette
   #5.
