You returned back to the Beko BBL after playing in Ludwigsburg in 2008-2009. How has the league developed in the last 3-4 years since you were gone?

The league has developed tremendously. I mean any time you have league with six or seven teams playing internationally it shows how strong the league is top to bottom. I think there are a few variables that have led to the fast growth. One being the addition of Bayern Munich to the BBL. Financially they came to the league prepared to win championships although they have not done so yet it forced the teams to raise the bar and get higher level players. Another variable is the economic issues across Europe, guys feel safe coming to Germany and know that it is a professional league that does not tolerate late payments.

You have played in many countries the last years. How tough was it not reaching the Beko BBL playoffs with the s.Oliver Baskets Wurzburg?

Coming to Wurzberg I didnt know what to expect because I knew very little about the team or city. I spoke with Marc Stein (ESPN NBA reporter) and he had great things to say about it because he knows Dirk Nowtizki and has been here to see him play. When I got here I was pleasantly surprised at the type of players who were here. Guys that I may have not known before besides Lamont Macintosh and Jimmy Mckinney , but thir were guys who came to work every day and wanted to improve and for me that enviroment is important. When I stepped off the plane I knew we had 11 games left so I set a goal to at least go 7-4 in that time. For a while we were playing great I believe we won four of my first five games with the only loss being my first game against Oldenburg. So things were going well then we lost a tough one at Berlin. Caught Frankfurt when they were hot and lost a close one to them at home. One the next two and lost a heartbreaker to ULM. With one game left we sat at 6-4 and a must situation at home against Bamberg. Needless to say we lost the game and did not make the 7-4 mark that we needed to make the playoffs. That hurt but when I think of all the things these guys have had to overcome all year I am proud of them for not giving up and being in this position at the end of the season. Wit all the injuries they could have just gave up on the season shows a lot of character to keep going when times get tough.

The 2013 quarterfinal Beko BBL playoffs look to have some nice matchups. The most interesting is Alba Berlin-FC Bayern Munich. What kind of series can we await, will it go five games and what will be key for each team winning?

I think both teams are well coached and have a strong nucleus. The point guard battle will be key for each team. In my opinion whichever one of them has the better series the team will follow. I also like the Matchup between Deon Thompson and Chevon Troutman. Both players are really dominant when they want to be but Deon is playing at another level right now.

The Brose Baskets Bamberg have a real tough opening round with Phoenix Hagen. I see this as being a sweep by Bamberg if they are on or going five games. What kind of series can we await and what will be key for each team moving on?

Both teams are great at home. Bamburg has struggled as of late going 5-5 in the last ten games. If Phoenix continues to stay hot I also see this going five games. But if Bamberg senses any type of let down from Phoenix then they will smell blood and destroy them like all good teams do. Davin White and Larry Gordan will not let them get sweeped in my opinion. I think each team gets a win at home and after that its a toss up

Bonn plays Oldenburg a rematch of the 2009 Beko BBL final where Oldenburg won the title. What kind of series can we await and what will be key for each team advancing?

With Robert Vaden no longer on the team I dont see Bonn hanging with Oldenburg. Bonn is a really good team and Kyle Weems has come into his own as a first year player but Oldenburg in my opinion is the best team in the BBL this season. They have matchup problems all over the court and if you take one thing away they have the personal to go to the next option with any drop off

The Artland Dragons have to tangle with ratiopharm Ulm. This is also one of those series that can end quick for Ulm or possibly go five games. What kind of series can we await and what will be key for each team getting to the next round?

There are two matchups that will be key in this series. If Brad Buckman can keep John Bryant away from the basket and off the offensive glass Artland has a great chance. If Bryce Taylor has a great offensive series and either shuts down Allen Ray or Steven Esterkamp who is shooting 14-17 from the three in the last three games (thats ridiculous) then Artland has a chance. Than you have the x-factor Anthony King if he is playing well then it will be a long series for Ulm or short.

Thanks Frank for the chat.
