John
Eggleston

Jack Eggleston (203-PF-88, college: Pennsylvania) is a 24 year old 203cm power forward from Noblesville, Indiana that is playing his second year as a professional for the Bayer Giants Leverkusen in the German Pro B. He played at Pennsylvania (NCAA) from 2007-2011. He played a total of 125 NCAA games. In his senior year he played 28 games: 13.2ppg, 8.0rpg, 2.1apg, FGP: 50.4%, 3PT: 45.1%, FT: 73.5%. Last season for Leverkusen he played 23 games: 14.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.1apg, FGP: 49.5%, 3PT: 37.1%, FT: 71.2%. He spoke to eurobasket after the 90-83 win in Schwelm.

Congrats on the 90-83 win against Schwelm. It was your first time playing them this season. How tough was it playing a totally new team at this stage of the season? Of course you watched film on them, but compared to the last series, you knew the opponent in and out.

When playing against a team for the first time, there is definitely a bit of a feeling out period. I think by the end of the first quarter we had a good idea of what they were doing against our zone and how they were guarding us. We'll see if they make any adjustments in game 2.

The Bayer Giants Leverkusen were up 45-39. What did head coach Achim Kuczmann tell the team to do better in the second half?

We needed to do a little better job of finding shooters in the zone. They shot the ball well against us, so we need to make sure we contest all of their shots.

Josh Parker scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. What else was key in the fourth quarter that wasnt necessarily seen in the stats that helped the Giants win?

I thought we did a pretty good job of getting to the offensive glass in the fourth quarter. When the defense has to rotate to contest Josh's shots, it leaves lanes open for offensive rebounding.

How much fun was it fighting Josh Parker for most assists in the game?

With as many points as Josh scores, you would think he'd at least let me be the high assist man. He and I both just try to make plays and get our teammates as many looks as possible. It's always fun to play with guys who think that way.

Both teams had problems from downtown. Do you think both teams will try to focus more on finding more perfection from outside?

They had a fair amount of success from deep so I think they will continue to look for those shots. We need to make sure we are aware of where their shooters are at all times. Offensively, I think we will shoot the ball better next game.

Schwelm guard tandem Coles and Hamilton combined for 52 points. How key will it be to contain them better in game two?

We just need to make sure they don't get any easy looks. Whether it's a three or a drive to the basket, we need to make sure we're contesting all of their shot attempts.

The Bayer Giants Leverkusen won by eight, so cant lose by more than eight points. How much are you looking forward to this game and what will be key in getting the win?

Margin of victory is not something we're thinking about. We just know that if we win game 2, we are the champs.

Where do you rate Carmelo Anthony with the best players in the NBA?

Carmelo is obviously one of the elite scorers in the NBA, but he doesn't have the complete game of someone like LeBron James. I'd say Carmelo falls somewhere in the 6-10 range of best players.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

I just watched Upstream Color.

Thanks Jack for the chat.

Riverside, California may just be another city in California that gives it's 2 cents in helping the estimated 39,14 million of the Golden State keep it's growth, but when you have 319,514 people living there, you are bound to produce more than just a handful of very talented athletes. When looking at the who's who of well known sports figures that come from Riverside, one quickly notices that the city that is 57 miles from Los Angeles has had a fancy of producing baseball players more tha...   [read more]
