Lubos Barton claims German BBL weekly honour - Apr 28, 2013

Lubos Barton
Experienced Czech Republic Lubos Barton (202-SF-80) had a great game in the last round for NY Phantoms and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 34.
The 32-year old had a double-double of 27 points and twelve rebounds, while his team outclassed Bremerhaven (#12, 15-19) with 29-point margin 104-75. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on the top of the standings. NY Phantoms is placed at 13th position in German BBL. NY Phantoms is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 14-20 record. In the team's last game Barton had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He just recently signed at NY Phantoms, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Lubos Barton averages this season 8.5ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old American guard Davin White (186-G-81) of Phoenix Hagen. White impressed basketball fans with 33 points and 5 assists. Of course Phoenix Hagen cruised to a 99-88 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked MBC (#16, 13-21). Phoenix Hagen's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 18-16 record is not bad and everything may still change. White is a newcomer at Phoenix Hagen and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.3ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.5 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Chevon Troutman (202-PF-81, agency: Beo Basket) of B.Muenchen (#4). Troutman scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Troutman's great performance B.Muenchen lost 98-103in overtime to the lower-ranked Telekom Baskets (#8, 18-16). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing B.Muenchen needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 21 victories and 13 lost games. Troutman has a very solid season. In 29 games in Germany he scored 13.4ppg. He also has 5.9rpg and FGP: 69.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Phillipp Heyden (206-C-88) of MBC - 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Jared Jordan (188-PG-84) of Telekom Baskets - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists
6. John Bryant (208-C-87) of Ratiopharm - 15 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Larry Gordon (196-F-87) of Phoenix Hagen - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Johannes Lischka (203-PF-87) of Walter Tigers - 16 points and 17 rebounds
9. Zachery Peacock (203-F-87) of Fraport SKY - 20 points and 4 rebounds
10. Vaughn Duggins (190-G-87) of Walter Tigers - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
