The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked SC Rasta Vechta as it allowed them to take a leadership position. SC Rasta Vechta defeated 12th ranked ETB Wohnbau at home 90-85. ETB Wohnbau trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 28-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-90 at the end of the game. SC Rasta Vechta made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. SC Rasta Vechta outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 37-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by ETB Wohnbau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward A.J. Rudowitz (198-88, college: Stonehill) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Patrick Elzie used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 19 points and 4 assists. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Goettingen. ETB Wohnbau lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 16 games lost. Leading BG Goettingen (19-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked NBC (13-13) 77-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BG Goettingen. American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) notched 26 points to lead the effort and Ahmad Smith supported him with 5 points and 11 rebounds. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by naturalized American guard Akeem Vargas (191-90, college: Iowa Lakes CC) did not help to save the game for BG Goettingen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NBC moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Jena and Chemnitz. BG Goettingen at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. They share it with Vechta. NBC will play against higher ranked BG Karlsruhe (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BG Goettingen will play against BV Chemnitz 99 (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked USC Leipzig managed to get the third consecutive victory on Friday night. This time newly promoted USC Leipzig won against thirteenth-ranked Kirchheim Knights 103-97. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Adam Sollazzo who scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Marcus Smallwood produced 20 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the guests. Kirchheim Knights' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. USC Leipzig have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted USC Leipzig maintains sixteenth position with 6-20 record. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the twelfth place with 16 games lost. Cuxhaven BasCats will play against Duesseldorf Baskets (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 26: Chemnitz lost to Heidelberg on the opponent's court 63-75. Crailsheim managed to outperform Jena in a home game 90-79. Gotha managed to beat Karlsruhe on the road 91-85.



Heidelberg - Chemnitz 75-63

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (13-13) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (12-14) 75-63 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 30-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. MLP Academics Heidelberg forced 19 BV Chemnitz 99 turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MLP Academics Heidelberg made 8 blocks. BV Chemnitz 99 was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch.
