There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in A1.

A1 top team - Panathinaikos (19-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (11-9) in Glyfada 79-53. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ikaros Kalitheas. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Ikaros Kalitheas managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ikaros Kalitheas to just 7 points in first quarter. American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Aristea Maglara (168-83) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Panathinaikos' coach Giasemi Samandoura felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Theoni Tzegianaki (167-85) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds for Ikaros Kalitheas. Panathinaikos have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-1 record. Ikaros Kalitheas at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Aris. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face league's second-placed AO Ellinikou at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ikaros Kalitheas will play against PAOK in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 20th consecutive match to tenth ranked Olympiakos (6-14) 68-49. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Dimitra Chavale (175-78) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Niki Zerva who added 15 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Forward Liana Plavoukou (183-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. GAC Eunikos' coach Dorita Deve rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Olympiakos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Terpsithea. GAC Eunikos at the other side still closes the standings. Olympiakos will play against higher ranked Kronos AD (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. GAC Eunikos will play against Panionios (#11) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.

PAOK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-6 record. Panionios lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 18 games lost. PAOK will meet Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in the next round. Panionios will play against GAC Eunikos (#12) in Liosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 20: Aris was smashed by Athinaikos on the road 86-61. Kronos AD destroyed Asteras on its own court 81-45. AO Ellinikou managed to outperform Terpsithea in a road game 74-64.


PAOK - Panionios 90-32

The game between fourth ranked PAOK (14-6) and 11th ranked Panionios (2-18) in Thessaloniki on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. PAOK outscored guests from Athens 90-32. The game without a history. PAOK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 2 points in third quarter and to 12 points in first half. PAOK held Panionios to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.9 percent accuracy of the winners. PAOK forced 29 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 47-13 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American center Caila Desroches (193-88, college: Chicago St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and center Rafaela Aggelidou (184-95) supported her with 9 points and 6 rebounds. PAOK's coach Evripidis Meletiadis felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 10 points by point guard Sofia Ermidou (167-96) did not help to save the game for Panionios. Forward Christina Babi (178-96) added 7 points for the guests. PAOK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-6 record. Panionios lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 18 games lost. No shocking result in a game when third ranked Athinaikos (17-3) crushed 6th ranked Aris (11-9) in Athens 86-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Athinaikos. Aris managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) supported her with 20 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by guard Roula Mouli (178-85) did not help to save the game for Aris. Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Four Aris players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Athinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with AO Ellinikou. Loser Aris dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Ikaros Kalitheas. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Asteras.

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Kabouraki was voted Eurobasket.com All-Greek A2 3rd Team in 2015.
