There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in A1. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with derby games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most exciting game of round 21 in the A1 took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best AO Ellinikou (17-4) to first ranked Panathinaikos (20-1) 71-68 on Saturday evening. AO Ellinikou trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 26-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-71 at the end of the game. Point guard Aristea Maglara (168-83) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and international forward Ioanna Diela (175-90) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. Newly promoted AO Ellinikou dropped to the third position with four games lost. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round. AO Ellinikou will play at home against Aris in Thessaloniki and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#3) and Asteras (#8). Asteras was defeated at home 58-68 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Sofia Kiriakopoulou accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Asteras in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Athinaikos. Defending champion (18-3) moved-up to second place. Asteras at the other side keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Olympiakos.
GAC Eunikos has finally registered their first victory this season after 20 consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Athens, where they outplayed Panionios (2-19) 65-44 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Nikolina Ioannidou who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. GAC Eunikos' coach Dorita Deve felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Gramatikopoulou who recorded 7 points and 13 rebounds. GAC Eunikos maintains twelfth place with 1-20 record. It was Panionios' eighth loss in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. GAC Eunikos will meet at home higher ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play against Kronos AD (#7) and hope to secure a win.

10th ranked Olympiakos (6-15) was outscored at home by seventh ranked Kronos AD (11-10) with the biggest margin this round 71-52 on Saturday night. Maria Xanthou stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Kronos AD maintains seventh place with 11-10 record. Newly promoted Olympiakos dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Kronos AD will face Panionios (#11) in Athens in the next round. Olympiakos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Athinaikos.

In the last game of round 21 Terpsithea lost to Aris on the opponent's court 56-63.


Ikaros Kalitheas - PAOK 60-46

The game in Glyfada was also worth to mention about. 4th placed PAOK (14-7) played at the court of fifth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (12-9). Ikaros Kalitheas defeated PAOK 60-46. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of PAOK. The game was mostly controlled by Ikaros Kalitheas. PAOK was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ikaros Kalitheas forced 20 PAOK turnovers. It was a good game for American center Jasmine Erving (188-90, college: CS Northridge) who led her team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Roula Kalogirou (172-81) contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American center Caila Desroches (193-88, college: Chicago St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Sofia Vasiliadou (175-90) added 18 points in the effort for PAOK. Ikaros Kalitheas maintains fifth place with 12-9 record, which they share with Aris. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Ikaros Kalitheas' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (#12) in Liosa and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play at home against the league's leader Panathinaikos (#1) in Athens.

Panionios - GAC Eunikos 44-65

GAC Eunikos has finally registered their first victory this season after 20 consecutive loses. GAC Eunikos forced 27 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 48-27 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nikolina Ioannidou (175-94) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Eleni Solomou (184-89) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Kronos AD outrebounded Olympiakos 47-34 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Maria Xanthou (186-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American guard Jasmine Smith (172, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Rather expected game in Thessaloniki where 9th ranked Terpsithea (6-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Aris (12-9) 63-56 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aris forced 22 Terpsithea turnovers. Point guard Maria Bousnaki (172-89) stepped up and scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Aris players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Michelle Harrison (190-87, college: Utah) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Maria Panagiotopoulou (187-83) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas. Terpsithea lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Aris will face higher ranked AO Ellinikou (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Terpsithea will play against Asteras (#8) in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
