I chose Aris Thessaloniki instead of the obscurity of Olympiakos Pireus - Aug 30, 2012

Aris Thessaloniki was the right choice could be made at this time for my career said Kostas Charissis (211-F/C-79, agency: FCM, college: USC), as he admitted the player with a statement today. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus offered him more money but the yellows from North gave him the opportunity to have a starring role and solid time in the court.

The 33 year old center-spoke to radio station Libero initially explaining that "I made a choice not based on money but simply what was the best for my career. On the one side i had the proposal of the President of Aris Thessaloniki, Mr. Lefteris Arvanitis, whom I thank, and on the other had the financial offer by Olympiakos, having a secondary role in the team and not so much time in the court. At this age I decided I had to go for the first offer made by Aris, and not to go into a better financially offer which could put an end in my career as an active player in the courts"

For the role of Antonis Asimakopoulos (204-F-76), the international center said: "With Antonis we are friends since we were team-mates in Patras many years ago. Antonis didnt try to affect me positively or negatively, i took the decision by myself. Antonis will be our team leader and he could be leader throughout the A1. "

About the need for support from the world of Aris in Thessaloniki: Kostas Charissis (211-F/C-79) stated "We need to help the Yellow fans to stand by us, because only then will regenerate and rejuvenate the team. Coach Vangelis Alexandris has selected players who will work hard and create a team that will be able to be a protagonist and in a few years to even dare to claim the title. I do not like to talk too much to the media and give any promises; our work will show in the court and at the end of the day we will prove what we succeeded or not. There must be patience and faith from our supporters, there will be bad times, and we will lose some games, at the specific point (on the negative results) we will need our world to back us up. As all the athletes claims I can only promise that we will give all our strength to do the best for our team. "

For the young children and the young athletes, the Greek center said: "When we were inexperienced and rookies in a team, we had our own teachers and we were taught. I believe that we can help the young rookies and the young athletes to help the team. For me, Nikos Boudouris (192-G-71) and Milan Tomic (192-G-72) were were somehow my tutors and teachers in the court.
