Here is the weekly review of the top performing Greek players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international center Kostas Koufos (213-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA). He led Denver Nuggets to a victory over the Phoenix Suns (22-43) 108-93 in the NBA in Monday night's game. Koufos was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. The Denver Nuggets have a solid 44-22 record this season. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Koufos has relatively good stats this year: 8.3ppg, 6.7rpg, 1.4bpg, 2FGP: 61.2%(246-402) and FT: 57.0% in the 65 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Koufos played for the Greek senior national team two years ago. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

Nikolaos Zisis

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, currently plays in Eurocup). Zisis was the main contributor in a Gescrap BB's victory against the closely-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) crushing them 101-78 in the Eurocup last Tuesday. He was the best player in that game. Zisis scored 23 points. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group J. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (4-2) is placed first. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Zisis' first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 10.4ppg, 1.8rpg, 3.5apg, 2FGP: 50.7%, 3FGP: 38.2% and FT: 75.0%. Zisis is in the roster of the Greek senior national team.

   #3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in Russia. He could not help Spartak St.Petersburg (3-3) in their last game. Despite Mavrokefalidis' very good performance the second-placed Spartak St.Petersburg was badly defeated 73-56 on the road by the leading Budivelnyk in the group K of Eurocup. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Mavrokefalidis also added 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. Mavrokefalidis has reliable stats this year: 14.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 54.3%, 3FGP: 43.8% and FT: 76.2% in the 14 games. He played for the Greek national team two years ago.

   #4. Swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Nikolaos Zisis. But that was another game of his team in Eurocup which we would like to mention. Vasiliadis, who plays in Spain was not able to help Gescrap BB (4-2) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance Gescrap BB was defeated 85-81 in Ulm by the second-ranked ratiopharm in the group J of Eurocup. Vasiliadis was the top scorer with 21 points. Vasiliadis' stats this season are: 14.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg. He is also Greek national team player.

   #5. International point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida, currently plays in Eurocup) was the major contributor in Lokomotiv's victory against the closely-ranked Buducnost (3-3) 72-54 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Calathes recorded 15 points and added 4 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group K. Lokomotiv Kuban (5-1) is placed first. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Calathes is the league's best passer. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.1ppg, 5.9rpg, 6.9apg and 1.4spg. Calathes is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Greek national team. Calathes used to play for 3-year contract with Panathinaikos Athens in Greek league.

He recorded 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. Lukoil Academik Sofia (17-2) is placed first in the NBL. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Haritopoulos has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.7ppg and 9.0rpg in the three games. Haritopoulos is a former international player as he played for the Greek senior team eight years ago.

International forward Antonis Fotsis (209-81, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an overtime Armani Milano's victory against the closely-ranked Umana Venezia (11-11) 97-88 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (14-8) is placed fifth in the SerieA. Fotsis' overall stats this season are: 7.7ppg and 4.1rpg. He is also Greek national team player.

An experienced point guard Theodoros Papaloukas (200-77, also represented by FCM, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help CSKA Moscow in a victory against the eighth-ranked Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-10) crushing them 78-58 in the Euroleague on Wednesday night. Papaloukas recorded only 4 points and added 4 passes in 12 minutes. CSKA Moscow (7-3) is placed third in group E. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game will be critical. This year Papaloukas' overall stats are: 2.7ppg and 2.1apg in the seven games. He used to play for the Greek national team back in 2008.

Former U20 international small forward Dusan Sakota (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Cimberio Varese's victory against the league outsider Angelico Biella (5-17) 92-82 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Sakota recorded 11 points. Cimberio Varese (18-4) is placed first in the SerieA. Sakota's total stats this season are: 6.5ppg and 2.3rpg. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team seven years ago.

Vougioukas scored 11 points in only a mere 12 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group L. Unics Kazan (4-2) is placed first. Vougioukas' stats this year are: 13.4ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.5apg in the 13 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, another player represented by FCM, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan was not able to secure a victory for Solna Vikings (20-13) in their last game on Friday. Despite Toutziarakis' very good performance Solna Vikings was defeated 80-68 in Uppsala by the second-ranked Basket. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Toutziarakis also added 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Toutziarakis averaged so far 13.0ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team six years ago.

   #12. International power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ian Vougioukas and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Kaimakoglou helped his Russian team Unics Kazan win their game against the closely-ranked Valencia Basket 71-68. He scored 9 points. Kaimakoglou averaged so far 11.8ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.6apg. He is also in the roster of the Greek national team.

   #13. Former U18 international forward Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB couldn't help CB Canarias (9-15) in their last game. Despite Lampropoulos' good performance CB Canarias lost 81-89 at home to the much higher-ranked (#3) Regal FC Barcelona. He scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. This year Lampropoulos' total stats are: 6.8ppg and 3.6rpg in the 24 games. He used to play for the Greek U18 national team ten years ago.

   #14. Former international forward Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-76, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Cyprus) helped AEK win their game against the closely-ranked Etha 93-82 in the Cypriot Division A in Friday night's game. Kakiouzis recorded 16 points and had 3 steals. It was his first game for AEK this season. He used to play for the Greek national team back in 2007.

   #15. Former international swingman Dimitrios Tsaldaris (194-80, currently plays in Italy) faced previously mentioned Dusan Sakota in the Italian SerieA last game. Tsaldaris couldn't help Angelico Biella in their game against Cimberio Varese. He recorded 8 points and had 7 steals. His team was defeated 92-82. Tsaldaris has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Greek national team four years ago.

Pat Calathes (208-G/F-85, college: St.Joseph's, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Haifa to a victory over the closely-ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (11-9) 91-84 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. Calathes was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 12 rebounds. Calathes also added 2 blocks in 34 minutes. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (13-7) is placed second in the Winner League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Calathes is currently seventh on the list of best rebounders with 9.4rpg. This year he also averages: 15.4ppg and 2.3apg in the 20 games he played so far. Calathes is a naturalized American. He used to play for Costa Cafe Marousi in Greek league.

   #2. Sten-Timmu Sokk (181-PG-89, currently plays in Georgia) was the major contributor in Olimpi's victory against the fifth-ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (10-6) 92-82 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague in Wednesday night's game. Sokk scored 15 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 34 minutes. Olimpi Tbilisi (14-2) is placed first in the Superleague. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Sokk belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #3 with 6.2apg. He also averaged so far 10.5ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.1spg in the 16 games. Sokk has a dual citizenship: Greek and Estonian.

   #3. Experienced Alexey Savrasenko (215-C-79, currently plays in Eurocup) managed to help Lokomotiv Kuban in a victory against the closely-ranked Buducnost (3-3) crushing them 90-65 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Savrasenko scored only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 17 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group K. Lokomotiv Kuban (5-1) is placed first. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Savrasenko has averaged so far 1.5ppg and 2.2rpg in the 13 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Russian.

   #4. Elias Motran (201-F-80, currently plays in Lebanon) contributed to a 2-point Bejjeh's victory against the closely-ranked Byblos (11-9) 80-78 in the Lebanese Division A on Tuesday night. Motran scored 18 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Bejjeh (6-14) is placed seventh in the Division A. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses.    #5. Giannis Demertzis (194-PG-83, currently plays in Cyprus) contributed to Keravnos' victory against the closely-ranked Apoel (12-9) 76-69 in the Cypriot Division A in Tuesday night's game. Demertzis scored 6 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 31 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Keravnos Strovolou (18-3) is placed first in the Division A. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Demertzis is currently fifth on the list of best passers with 3.5apg. He also averaged so far 5.4ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.3spg in the 19 games.

   #6. Pappageorge scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.1spg in the 11 games. Pappageorge is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #8. Nick Paulos (201-G/F-91, currently studies in the States) contributed to NC-Greensboro's victory against the Univ.of Tennessee - Chattanooga 87-81 in the NCAA in Friday night's game. Paulos recorded 11 points in a mere 19 minutes. He has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.1spg in the 11 games. Paulos is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #9. Mannos Nakos (179-PG-88, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to an Uppsala Basket's victory against the sixth-ranked Solna Vikings 80-68 in the Swedish Basketligan last Friday. Nakos scored 8 points. He has averaged so far 6.6ppg and 1.6apg. Nakos also holds two passports: Greek and Swedish.

   #10. Angelo Tsagarakis (190-PG-84, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked JL Bourg crushing them 75-37 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tsagarakis averaged so far 13.1ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.6apg. He has dual citizenship: Greek and French. Despite Tsagarakis' Greek passport, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

AGOR - Kolossos HH 69-55 AGOR advanced into quarterfinal stage. They overcame Kolossos in the decider. The game was mostly controlled by AGOR. Kolossos HH managed to win second period 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Haralampos Giannopoulos (200-89) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. 29-year old center Gaios Skordilis (207-C-87, agency: Diamond Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Faros and receives a Eurobasket.com A2 Player of the Week award for round 28. He had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Irakleio (#14, 7-20) with 19-point margin 81-62. Faros maintains the 4th position in Greek A2. There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in A2. Fifth-ranked Aiolos Astakou (17-11) was very close to win a game against first ranked Iraklis (25-3) in Thessaloniki on Saturday. Iraklis managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Aiolos Astakou.
