We bring you last week's top performances from Greeks who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM, currently plays in Eurocup). He was the major contributor in a Gescrap BB's victory against the leader Budivelnyk (4-2) 93-83 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Vasiliadis recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group J. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (4-2) is placed first. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Vasiliadis has relatively good stats this year: 14.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.5apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 53.8%, 3FGP: 36.8% and FT: 85.7% in the 14 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Greek senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Russia. Calathes could not help Lokomotiv (12-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance the third-placed Lokomotiv was edged 98-95 at home by the lower-ranked VEF Riga (#4) in the group B of VTB United League. Calathes was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 9 passes. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Calathes' first season with the team. Calathes is ranked eighth on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best passers (fourth place). He has very reliable stats this season: 15.0ppg, 4.6rpg, 5.8apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 56.7%(80-141), 3FGP: 41.4% and FT: 61.1%. Calathes is a naturalized American. He is in the roster of the Greek senior national team. Calathes used to play for 3-year contract with Panathinaikos Athens in Greek league.

   #3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Russia. He was not able to help Spartak St.Petersburg (12-6) in their last game. Despite Mavrokefalidis' very good performance Spartak St.Petersburg (#4) lost 80-88 on the road to the lower-ranked (#6) BC Donetsk in the group A of VTB United League. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Mavrokefalidis also added 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 34 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Mavrokefalidis has relatively solid stats: 14.9ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 51.6%, 3FGP: 47.1%(16-34) and FT: 83.6% in the 18 games. He played for the Greek national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Kostas Koufos (213-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA) led Denver Nuggets to a victory against the Sacramento Kings (26-46) 101-95 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Koufos recorded 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. The Denver Nuggets have a solid 49-24 record this season. Koufos has reliable stats this year: 8.3ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.4bpg. He is a naturalized American. Koufos used to play for the Greek national team back in 2011. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

Former international power forward Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-83, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Bulgaria) led Lukoil Academik to a victory over the eighth-ranked Euroins Cherno More (8-14) crushing them 112-71 in the Bulgarian NBL last Saturday. Haritopoulos was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. Lukoil Academik Sofia (20-2) is placed first in the NBL. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Haritopoulos has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.0ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.5apg in the six games. Haritopoulos used to play for the Greek national team eight years ago.

   #6. Guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kostas Vasiliadis and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Zisis contributed to a Gescrap BB's victory against the leader Budivelnyk (4-2) 93-83. He recorded 14 points. Zisis' stats this season are: 10.4ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.4apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster.

International power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis, currently plays in VTB United League) helped his Russian team Unics Kazan win their game against the eighth-ranked PGE Turow (4-14) crushing them 80-48 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. Vougioukas scored 15 points and blocked 2 shots in a mere 16 minutes. Unics Kazan (14-4) is placed second in group A. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the VTB United League. Vougioukas is currently fifth on the list of best blockers with 1.2bpg. He also averaged so far 10.7ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.5apg in the 18 games. Vougioukas is also Greek national team player.

Small forward Dusan Sakota (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Italy) helped Cimberio Varese win their game against the seventh-ranked Trenkwalder RE (13-11) 77-74 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He scored 13 points. Cimberio Varese (19-5) is placed first in the SerieA. Sakota's overall stats this season are: 6.7ppg and 2.2rpg. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team back in 2006.

Papaloukas scored only 3 points and added 6 passes in 16 minutes. CSKA Moscow (14-2) is placed first in the PBL. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Papaloukas' overall stats are: 2.5ppg, 1.5rpg and 4.8apg in the four games. He used to play for the Greek national team five years ago.

Power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ian Vougioukas and both played together in the last VTB United League game. Kaimakoglou helped his Russian team Unics Kazan win their game against the eighth-ranked PGE Turow (4-14) crushing them 80-48. He scored 9 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. Kaimakoglou is ranked fifth on the list of the most steals in the league. This season he has very good stats: 13.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg. Kaimakoglou is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster.

   #11. Former international forward Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-76, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Cyprus) helped AEK win their game against the closely-ranked Apoel 78-70 in the Cypriot Division A last Tuesday. He recorded 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 31 minutes. Kakiouzis' stats this year are: 14.3ppg and 4.7rpg in the three games. He used to play for the Greek national team six years ago.

   #12. International forward Antonis Fotsis (209-81, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Armani Milano in their game against Sutor Montegranaro in the Italian SerieA. Fotsis scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was defeated 85-71. Fotsis' total stats this season are: 7.3ppg and 4.2rpg. He is also in the roster of the Greek national team.

   #13. Former international forward Nikos Barlos (203-79, currently plays in Italy) helped C.de Latte BRE win their game against the 13th-ranked FCM Ferentino 90-85 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Barlos scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. He averaged so far 11.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.7spg in the 20 games. Barlos used to play for the Greek national team eight years ago.

   #14. Former international forward Christos Tapoutos (203-82, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Olin Edirne (5-18) in their last game. Despite his good performance Olin Edirne lost 63-67 on their home court in Edirne to the higher-ranked (#13) Turk Telekom. Tapoutos scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 35 minutes. Tapoutos averaged so far 10.3ppg and 4.7rpg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Greek national team back in 2005.

   #15. Former U20 international center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, another player represented by FCM, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Solna Vikings in their game against Sodertalje Kings in the Swedish Basketligan. Despite his good performance on Wednesday night Toutziarakis scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Toutziarakis averaged so far 12.7ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Greek passport but never been selected to any of Greek national teams:

   #1. Giannis Demertzis (194-PG-83, currently plays in Cyprus), who plays in the Cypriot Division A could not help Keravnos (18-3) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance the league leader Keravnos was crushed 92-67 on the road by the lower-ranked Apoel (#4). Demertzis recorded 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Demertzis is currently fifth on the league's list of best passers. His total stats this season are: 5.7ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.5apg and 1.2spg.

   #2. Experienced Alexey Savrasenko (215-C-79, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to help Lokomotiv (12-6) in their game against VEF Riga (11-7) in the VTB United League. Savrasenko scored only 4 points in 6 minutes on the court. Lokomotiv (#3) was edged 98-95 at home by the lower-ranked (#4) VEF Riga in the group B of VTB United League. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Savrasenko's total stats are: 2.4ppg and 2.1rpg in the 16 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Russian.

   #3. Dan Mavraides (193-G-88, college: Princeton, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Juvecaserta (10-14) in their game against VL Pesaro (7-17) in the Italian SerieA. Despite his good performance in Sunday night's game Mavraides was the second best scorer with 11 points. Mavraides' total stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.2spg. He is a naturalized American. Mavraides used to play for Aris Thessaloniki in Greek league.

   #4. Sten-Timmu Sokk (181-PG-89, currently plays in Georgia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Olimpi (14-3) in their game against MIA (15-2) in the Georgian Superleague, despite his good performance in Wednesday night's game. Sokk recorded 11 points in 28 minutes. But Olimpi lost 63-70 in a derby game to the leading MIA. It was Olimpi's first loss after six consecutive victories. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Sokk is currently third on the league's list of best passers with 5.9apg. He also averaged so far 10.5ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.1spg in the 17 games. Sokk is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Estonian.

   #5. Elias Motran (201-F-80, currently plays in Lebanon) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Bejjeh (6-18) in their game against Hoops Club (6-18) in the Lebanese Division A, despite his very good performance on Friday night. He scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 29 minutes. But Bejjeh lost 81-95 in Beirut to the higher-ranked (#7) Hoops Club. It was Bejjeh's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Motran's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. This year Motran's total stats are: 7.4ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.5apg in the 19 games. He has both Greek and Lebanese nationalities.

   #6. Athanasios Kalpakas (198-F-84, currently plays in Sweden) was the major contributor in Akropol's victory against the third-ranked LF Future 74-70 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) in Sunday night's game. Kalpakas recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Kalpakas averaged so far 12.4ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg. He also holds two passports: Greek and Swedish.

   #7. Mannos Nakos (179-PG-88, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Uppsala Basket in their game against LF Basket in the Swedish Basketligan. Nakos scored 6 points in 15 minutes. His team lost 81-88. This year Nakos' total stats are: 6.4ppg and 1.5apg in the 37 games. He holds both Greek and Swedish passports.

   #8. Koutras recorded only 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 16 minutes. This year Koutras averages just 1.8ppg in the 10 games. He has dual citizenship: Greek and Swedish.

   #10. Giannis Prodromou (196-F-87, currently plays in Germany) faced previously mentioned Triantafillos Tzakopoulos in the German ProA last game. Prodromou couldn't help Kirchheim Knights in their game against Duesseldorf Baskets. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was defeated 80-71. Prodromou's total stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 1.7rpg. Worth to mention Prodromou played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

AGOR - Kolossos HH 69-55 AGOR advanced into quarterfinal stage. They overcame Kolossos in the decider. The game was mostly controlled by AGOR. Kolossos HH managed to win second period 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Haralampos Giannopoulos (200-89) who led his team to a victory with 20 points.
