We bring you last week's top performances from Greeks who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Gescrap BB (19-15) in their last game. Despite Zisis' very good performance Gescrap BB lost 70-79 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Regal FC Barcelona. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Zisis also added 3 assists in 33 minutes on the court. This year Zisis averages: 9.0ppg, 1.9rpg, 3.5apg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 36.2% and FT: 82.2% in the 37 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Greek senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (19-15) crushing them 84-62 in the Spanish ACB on Wednesday night. Mavrokefalidis scored 10 points in 21 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (23-11) is placed third in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Mavrokefalidis' overall stats are: 7.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 2FGP: 67.9%(19-28), 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 62.5% in the seven games. He played for the Greek national team in 2011.

   #3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida, currently plays in VTB United League). Calathes contributed to an easy victory against the leader Zalgiris (16-2) crushing them 84-62 in the VTB United League in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Lokomotiv Kuban (12-6) is placed third in group B. It's Calathes' first season with the team. Calathes is ranked third on the list of the best passers in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 6.0apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 55.8%(130-233), 3FGP: 37.3% and FT: 58.9%. Calathes is a naturalized American. He is also a member of the Greek senior national team. Calathes used to play for 3-year contract with Panathinaikos Athens in Greek league.

   #4. Swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Nikolaos Zisis and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Vasiliadis, who plays in the Spanish ACB was not able to help Gescrap BB (19-15) in their last game. Despite his good performance Gescrap BB lost 70-79 in Barcelona to the higher-ranked (#3) Regal FC. Vasiliadis scored 11 points in 22 minutes. Vasiliadis is ranked ninth on the list of the top scorers in the league with 13.8ppg. This year he also averages: 3.2rpg and 1.8apg in the 31 games. Vasiliadis is also Greek national team player.

   #5. Former U20 international small forward Dusan Sakota (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Italy) led Cimberio Varese to a victory against the fifth-ranked Montepaschi Siena (18-12) 71-67 in the Italian SerieA on Monday night. He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Cimberio Varese (23-7) is placed first in the SerieA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Sakota's total stats this season are: 8.4ppg and 2.4rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Serbian and Greek. Sakota used to play for the Greek U20 national team seven years ago.

An experienced point guard Theodoros Papaloukas (200-77, also represented by FCM, currently plays in VTB United League) managed to help CSKA Moscow in a victory against the leader Khimky (14-4) crushing them 87-64 in the VTB United League in Friday night's game. He scored only 3 points and added 3 assists in 11 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group B. CSKA Moscow (15-3) is placed second. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Papaloukas' total stats are: 2.0ppg, 1.2rpg and 1.9apg in the 16 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Greek senior team five years ago.

   #7. Former international power forward Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-83, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Bulgaria) was not able to secure a victory for Lukoil Academik (24-3) in their game against Levski Sofia (23-4) in the Bulgarian NBL. Haritopoulos recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The league leader Lukoil Academik was edged 75-74 in a derby game by the second-ranked Levski Sofia. Haritopoulos has relatively good stats this season: 13.2ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.4apg. He used to play for the Greek national team eight years ago.

   #8. Forward Nikos Barlos (203-79, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a C.de Latte BRE's victory against the closely-ranked Pall.Trento (14-14) 87-79 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Barlos recorded 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Centrale del Latte Brescia (17-11) is placed fifth in the Lega2. This season Barlos has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.2apg and 1.7spg. He used to play for the Greek national team back in 2005.


The list of other players, who all have Greek passport but never been selected to any of Greek national teams:

   #1. Pat Calathes (208-G/F-85, college: St.Joseph's, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Haifa to an easy victory against the second-ranked Hapoel Eilat (17-10) crushing them 105-84 in the Israeli Winner League last Wednesday. Calathes recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 6 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (17-10) is placed third. It's Calathes' first season with the team. Calathes is ranked ninth on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (fourth place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Calathes averages: 16.1ppg, 9.4rpg and 2.2apg. He is a naturalized American. Calathes used to play for Costa Cafe Marousi in Greek league.

   #2. Experienced Alexey Savrasenko (215-C-79, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Russia could not help Lokomotiv (12-6) to beat CSKA Moscow (15-3). Savrasenko recorded 6 points in 20 minutes. The third-placed Lokomotiv lost 65-72 on the road to the second-ranked CSKA Moscow in the group B of VTB United League. Savrasenko has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 1.6rpg in the 24 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Russian.

   #3. Angelo Tsagarakis (190-PG-84, currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProB (second division) was not able to help Chalons-Reims (23-11) in their last game. Despite Tsagarakis' very good performance Chalons-Reims was edged 73-70 at home by the lower-ranked (#5) Olympique Antibes. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Tsagarakis also added 4 assists in 28 minutes. Tsagarakis has reliable stats this year: 12.3ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.9apg in the 40 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Greek and French. Despite Tsagarakis' Greek nationality, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

Belfius Mons-Hainaut (Euromillions League) tabbed 25-year old American forward Juvonte Reddic (206-113kg-92, college: VCU). He played most recently at Kolossos H Hotels in Greek A1 league. In 29 games he averaged 11.6ppg and 5.8rpg last season. The previous (15-16) season Reddic played at another team Canton Charge in U.S. NBA-G-League where in 47 games he had 8.7ppg and 5.2rpg. Aries Trikalla BC (A1) inked American swingman Lamond Murray Jr. (196-91kg). Murray Jr. just graduated from Pepperdine (NCAA). He has played there for the last four years. In 30 games he averaged impressive 21.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg last season. A very good year in his career as he was selected to All-WCC 1st Team.
