Greek Finals: Game no. 2 - Panathinaikos Vs Olympiakos 63-52 (2-0)

The team of Coach Argiris Pedoulakis , the six star Panathinaikos kept OAKA unbeaten and is now leading the series with 2-0. The Greens more passionate and more experienced than ever (this season) they needs simply one victory to succeed what they usually succeeding (with a small break of last year), to win the Hellenic league.
The two teams enter into the court with specific targets and guiding principle coming from their coaches, so the reds of Coach Bartzokas having in their suitcase the home loss 48 hours before, begun the game on an aggressive manner Vassilis Spanoulis (193-G-82, agency: Beo Basket) in the role that knows most took the lead and end up the first period with a +5, 16-21.

The second period though the balances changed with Panathinaikos playing tougher defense over Vassilis Spanoulis and with Law obviously not being able to help as much as he wanted due to his injury, Olympiakos faced the same problems as he did a couple of days ago, in the point guard position. So Panathinaikos with Roko-Leni Ukic (196-PG-84) in an amazing night, balanced the game and brought it to the basket by the end of the first half, 29-31. Panathinaikos showed more accuracy and more passion while Olympiakos was obviously more stressed trying to balance the series many times with anorthodox ways...

The third period was totally different as Panathinaikos having another great third period (this season) and with Roko-Leni Ukic and Bramos shooting accurately from behind the arc; even though Olympiakos took some scoring (unexpectedly) by Dimitrios Katsivelis (196-G-91),, this wasnt enough, Panathinaikos dominated in both edges and developed a double digit difference to close the third period to 53-45. Olympiakos remain pointless for many minutes and the usual suspects in all the previous games and in the Euroleague, players like Printezis, Papanikolaou and Perperoglou were far behind and their accuracy in their shooting was not helping their team, while Vassilis Spanoulis up to a point stopped scoring due to the great defense by Dimitris Diamantidis (196-G-80), Roko-Leni Ukic and Lasme (occasionally).

The red players were not in their best shape and Pedulakis realized that from the early beginning so he gave to the game his own rhythm which was totally right for Panathinaikos but was absolutely problematic for Coach Bartzokas and his troop. The experience of the Green players of Panathinaikos was more than obvious since their solid game and their performance in many times reminded us, the Olympiakos players might have won two Euroleagues but they were obviously missing the experience while their enthousiasm was not enough, at least in this game....

The fourth and final period was simply the epitome of the game since Panathinaikos being more of a team with solid basketball, tough defense and a great home court (the OAKA had more or less 20.000 Green funs who created an amazing atmosphere) was not going to lose (at least tonight) with Dimitris Diamantidis in the leading role and Curry with Gist giving some solid assistance the permanent champions took the crucial victory which brings them just a victory to the double..

Panathinaikos was better once more in the assists 13 over 7 of Olympiakos, in the block shots 5 over 3 of Olympiakos and in the three pointers since the 11 of 27 are much better than the 5 of 26 of Olympiakos while the 9 of 25 in the two pointers are not much better than the 13 of 35 of Olympiakos. The players of Bartzokas though were much better in the areas of steals 10 against only 3 by Panathinaikos and in the turnovers weret ehy had only 13 in compare to the 17 of Panathinaikos

MVP of the game was the Croatian Ukic who is a different player in this set of games against Olympiakos, with great penetrations, not so many false balls and mature game, is assisting Panathinaikos to reach its goal proving that he is a player that Greens must count on in the years to come...

Top scorers:
Panathinaikos: Roko-Leni Ukic 17 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists in 22 minutes, Dimitris Diamantidis 10 points, 8 rebounds, 7 winning fouls and 2 assists, Bramos 9 with 3 of 4 three pointers, Ramel Curry (192-G-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists!
Olympiakos: Vassilis Spanoulis 12 and Hines 8 points and 8 rebounds.

A2 Round 28: Iraklis beat Aiolos Astakou by two after a very close game - 11 hours ago
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in A2. Fifth-ranked Aiolos Astakou (17-11) was very close to win a game against first ranked Iraklis (25-3) in Thessaloniki on Saturday. Iraklis managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Aiolos Astakou.
