Leonie Kooij
After getting demolished by a furious Challenge Sports Binnenland Rotterdam in the first game, CTO Amsterdam bounced back, only to forget winning , thus being down 2-0 in a best of five series. Challenge Sports did win the game, but suffered a major loss as Leonie Kooij (187-F-86) went down with a season ending injury.

It was already in the first quarter that the international star forward went down in horrific pain. Her backup Addie Micir responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the home team, but it took a while before the game was secured. Both teams were quite level in the game, where after ten CTO had the lead 14-17. In the second stanza Binnenland reclaimed momentum and it was former CTO-guard Zera Butter who hit a buzzerbeater for the 28-24 at the break.

Behind a Loyce Bettonvil threepointer for 28-31 CTO went ahead again after the break, but did not manage to pull away. Just yet, because with only eight minutes to go in the final quarter they led 41-47! Was it a 1-1 in the making? No, because Challenge Sports shut the Amsterdam offense down, and went on a 9-0 run, that extended to as much as 55-50. It was the decisive break, because CTO did not manage tot come any closer and lost 64-59.

Scores:

Huskies sweep Netherlands national team in Rome - 5 hours ago
Nothing like traveling some 7,000 miles to break out of a shooting slump. Kia Nurse (6'0''-G-96) won a gold medal at the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 Sunday with the Canadian national team but in six tournament games shot just 28.1 percent from the floor including 21.9 percent from 3-point land. But after traveling Monday from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Rome to join her University of Connecticut teammates on their tour of Italy, the senior guard found her shot. Nurse scored 18 points -- making 5-o...   [read more]
