GasTerra Flames took on Belgian Kangoeroes Boom in the pre-season clash. The Dutch side eked out a 78:75 victory. Groningen led throughout the bigger part of the game. They established a 38:29 halftime lead. Kangoeroes Boom cut the distance in the third term. But GasTerra Flames held on to the advantage and snatched a tough victory at the end. Ross Bekkering (203-F-87) chipped in 19 points for the winners. Jason Dourisseau (196-G-83, college: Nebraska) and Cashmere Wright (183-PG-90, agency: Three Eye Sports, college: Cincinnati) added 13 points each for Groningen.
Zwolle outgunned ZZ Leiden 69:67 in friendly. Brad Loesing (182-G-89, college: Wofford) sank a buzzer-beater to propel Zwolle to the victory. Zwolle entered the fourth frame up by as many as 10 points 53:43. ZZ Leiden erased the deficit and evened the score at 67 late in regulation. But Brad Loesing stepped up with the decisive bucket and sealed the win for Landstede Basketball. Justin Stommes (200-G/F-88, college: E.Kentucky) stepped up with 28 points for the winners. Brad Loesing had 11 points in the win. Worthy de Jong (194-SG-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) answered with 15 points for Zwolle. Josh Duinker (210-F/C-89, college: Richmond) chipped in 14 points in the defeat.
Aris Leeuwarden surrendered against Cuxhaven 78:87. Stephen Lumpkins (203-F, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management, college: American) produced 19 points and 11 boards for the Dutch team. Tjoe de Paula (185-PG-81, agency: Court Side) added 16 points in the loss.

Grasshoppers and Lokomotief won semifinal openers in PromotieDivisie on Saturday night. Grasshoppers overcame De Groene 69-55 in game 1. Lokomotief meanwhile beat Lions 84-73 in their opener. Second game between Grasshoppers and De Groene will be played on April 29th. Lions will take on Lokomotief on April 30th.   [read more]
