A Division Round 3 (Second Stage): Atomeromu beats Jaszberenyi by three after a very close game - Mar 23, 2013

The most exciting game of round 3 in the A Division took place in Paks. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of bottom-ranked Jaszberenyi (0-3) to third ranked Atomeromu (2-1) 89-86 on Saturday evening. Jaszberenyi was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 31-22 charge of Atomeromu, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. The former international Gergely Koertelyesi (202-83, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Serbian guard Miljan Rakic (195-86, agency: BeoExcell) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 assists for Jaszberenyi. Atomeromu moved-up to second place in Division. Jaszberenyi at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Atomeromu are looking forward to face league's leader Albacomp in Szekesfehervar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jaszberenyi will play at home against Kormend (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It was a great evening for American forward Jarrod Jones (205-90, college: Ball St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Damian Hollis helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Christopher Dunn (189-83, college: W.Virginia St., agency: Court Side) with 22 points and 9 assists. Albacomp maintains first place in Division with 3-0 record. Kaposvari at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Albacomp will play against league's second-placed Atomeromu in Paks in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kaposvari will play at home against Szolnok in Szolnok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Szeged was also quite interesting. 4th placed ZTE KK (10-14) played at the court of sixth ranked Szedeak (9-15). Szedeak defeated ZTE KK 92-79 on Saturday. Szedeak moved-up to fifth place in Division. Loser ZTE KK keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. Szedeak will meet league's second-placed Soproni on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ZTE KK will play against FS Debrecen and hope to secure a win.
The game in Nyiregyhazi was also worth to mention about. Third ranked PVSK Pannon (11-12) played at the court of 5th ranked Marso NYKK (9-16). PVSK Pannon managed to secure a 6-point victory 88-82. The best player for the winners was Norbert Toth who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. PVSK Pannon maintains third place in Division with 11-12 record having just -28 point less than leader Albacomp. Marso NYKK at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 16 games lost. PVSK Pannon's next round opponent will be FS Debrecen (#7) on the road.
The game in Debrecen supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Soproni (12-12) played at the court of 7th ranked FS Debrecen (2-22). Soproni smashed FS Debrecen 90-42 on Wednesday. It was a good game for Dontay Thomas who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Soproni maintains second place in Division with 12-12 record having just -30 point less than leader Albacomp. Loser FS Debrecen keeps the seventh position with 22 games lost. Soproni will face Szedeak (#5) in Szeged in the next round. FS Debrecen will play on the road against ZTE KK in Zalaegerszeg.

In Division Kormend was smashed by Szolnok on the road 96-73.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals by Mate Mohacsi of Marso NYKK.

Szolnok - Kormend 96-73

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Szolnok and 5th ranked Kormend had identical 1-1 record. This time Szolnok used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Kormend 96-73 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Szolnok. Kormend was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Szolnok dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 18. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Kormend's players. It was a good game for American forward Brandon Gay (203-82, college: San Diego, agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 9 assists. International power forward Miklos Szabo (205-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Marso NYKK - PVSK Pannon 82-88

The game in Nyiregyhazi was also worth to mention about. Third ranked PVSK Pannon (11-12) played at the court of 5th ranked Marso NYKK (9-16). PVSK Pannon managed to secure a 6-point victory 88-82. Marso NYKK was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. PVSK Pannon dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Marso NYKK's 34. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Norbert Toth (203-86, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. They dominated on the defensive end, holding FS Debrecen to just 6 points in second quarter. Soproni held FS Debrecen to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 59.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Soproni had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds.
