A Division Round 9 (Second Stage): Kaposvari loses to Szolnok - Apr 18, 2013

There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in A Division.

The game between third ranked Kaposvari (18-13) and sixth ranked Szolnok (8-1) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Kaposvari was defeated by Szolnok in Szolnok 86-98. The game was mostly controlled by Szolnok. Kaposvari managed to win fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Szolnok shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a good game for the former international center Marton Bader (212-80, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Rashad Bell (201-82, college: Boston U.) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Szolnok's coach Neno Asceric used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Marko Spica (205-86, college: Cent.Michigan) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds for Kaposvari. Defending champion maintains sixth place in Division with 8-1 record. Kaposvari at the other side keeps the third position with 13 games lost. Szolnok are looking forward to face league's leader Albacomp in Szekesfehervar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kaposvari will play at home against Jaszberenyi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Albacomp (24-7) which played road game in Paks against second-best Atomeromu (21-10). First ranked Albacomp managed to get a 8-point victory 84-76. American guard Brandon Wood (187-89, college: Michigan St., agency: N.E.T.) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 steals for the winners and Ronald Moore chipped in 8 points and 11 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Jonathan Levy (193-82, college: CS San Bernar.) with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Albacomp maintains first place in Division with 24-7 record. Atomeromu at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Albacomp will play against Szolnok (#6) in Szolnok in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Atomeromu will play at home against Kormend (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for PVSK Pannon (14-13) which hosted in Pecs second-best Soproni (14-13). Third ranked PVSK Pannon managed to get a 8-point victory 78-70. It was a key game for the second position in Division. Norbert Toth nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Charles Hinkle came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds for Soproni in the defeat. PVSK Pannon moved-up to second place in Division. PVSK Pannon will meet at home ZTE KK (#4) in the next round. Soproni will play against the league's leader Falco-Szova in Szombathely and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Kormend was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Jaszberenyi (16-15) played at the court of fifth ranked Kormend (13-18). Kormend did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-70. The best player for the winners was Csaba Ferencz who scored 27 points. Kormend's coach Tamas Hencsey allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Kormend maintains fifth place in Division with 13-18 record. The game in Kormend was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Jaszberenyi (16-15) played at the court of fifth ranked Kormend (13-18). Kormend did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-70. It looked good early as Jaszberenyi took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kormend had a 26-12 second period charge getting the lead and Jaszberenyi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-89. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Csaba Ferencz (195-85, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who scored 27 points. American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Kormend's coach Tamas Hencsey allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian swingman Milos Markovic (201-84) who recorded 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian guard Miljan Rakic (195-86, agency: BeoExcell) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kormend maintains fifth place in Division with 13-18 record. Jaszberenyi at the other side keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost. Kormend's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Atomeromu in Paks and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jaszberenyi will play on the road against Kaposvari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Atomeromu was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 49-39 second half run of Albacomp. They also forced 21 Atomeromu turnovers.
