We bring you last week's top performances from Icelandic who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern, currently plays in Sweden). He led Sundsvall Dragons to a victory over the eighth-ranked 08 Stockholm (16-17) 93-86 in the Swedish Basketligan in Sunday night's game. Sigurdarson was MVP of the game. He recorded 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in 38 minutes on the court. Sundsvall Dragons (27-6) is placed first in the Basketligan. It's Sigurdarson's fourth season with the team. Sigurdarson is currently sixth on the list of top scorers with 17.9ppg. He also averaged so far 3.3rpg, 3.1apg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 37.2% and FT: 91.6%(153-167) in the 36 games he played so far. Sigurdarson is currently a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakob Sigurdarson. But that was another game of his team in Swedish Basketligan which we would like to mention. Baeringsson, who plays in the Swedish Basketligan. He could not help Sundsvall Dragons (27-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite Baeringsson's very good performance the league leader Sundsvall Dragons was defeated 74-70 on the road by the much lower-ranked 08 Stockholm (#8). He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds. Baeringsson also added 3 assists and 4 steals. Baeringsson is currently first on the list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.8ppg, 10.2rpg, 3.4apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 57.0%(147-258), 3FGP: 46.8%(44-94) and FT: 71.5%. Baeringsson is in the roster of the Icelandic senior national team.

   #3. The Icelandic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Jon Stefansson (196-82, currently plays in Spain). He was not able to help CAI Zaragoza (14-12) in their game against Real Madrid (24-2) in the Spanish ACB. Stefansson scored only 4 points in 10 minutes. CAI Zaragoza lost 75-84 at home to the leading Real Madrid. This year Stefansson averages: 6.1ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 44.8%, 3FGP: 30.2% and FT: 83.3% in the 21 games. He is also a member of the Icelandic senior national team.

Small forward Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an Assignia Manresa's surprising victory against the fifth-ranked Gescrap BB (16-10) 82-79 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Palsson scored 8 points. Assignia Manresa (5-21) closes the standings in the ACB. But the situation may improve as they ended a series of six consecutive loses. Palsson's overall stats this season are: 2.0ppg and 1.2rpg. He is also Icelandic national team player.

   #5. International guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, currently plays in Sweden) managed to help Norrkoping Dolphins in a victory against the fifth-ranked Boras Basket (21-12) 74-63 in the Swedish Basketligan last Monday. Ermolinskij recorded only 2 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in 31 minutes. Norrkoping Dolphins (4-2) is placed first in the Basketligan. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Ermolinskij's first season with the team. Ermolinskij is currently sixth on the list of best passers with 4.4apg. This year he also averages: 9.2ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.1spg in the 31 games. Ermolinskij plays currently for the Icelandic national team.

Point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (194-88, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Mitteldeutscher BC's victory against one of league's weakest teams EnBW Ludwigsburg (10-18) 61-56 in the German BBL on Saturday night. He recorded 5 points and added 4 passes. Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (12-15) is placed 12th in the BBL. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Vilhjalmsson's overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.7apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Icelandic National Team roster.

U.M.F. Tindastoll Sauoarkrokur (Dominos League) confirmed in their roster 27-year old American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL). He was a team leader there last season. In 20 Dominos League games he recorded very impressive stats: 23.4ppg, 10.8rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3spg and 1.2bpg. Iceland U20 wins the International friendly tournament - 3 days ago
Iceland U20 won the International friendly tournament with 4 participating teams. Last night they overcame Finland U20 75-60 to finish with a 2-1 record. Trailing 13-14 at the end of the first period, Iceland U20 needed a strong 25-10 surge in the second period to take control of the game. Tryggvi Hlinason (215-C-97) top-scored for the winners with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Kari Jonsson (190-G-97) added 14.
