Marcus Van
27-year old power forward Marcus Van (201-F/C-85) had a great game in the last round for Njardvik and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 21 rebounds, while his team crushed Fjolnir (#12, 4-15) with 25-point margin 100-75. Njardvik maintains the 7th position in Icelandic league. Njardvik is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-9 record. In the team's last game Van had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Njardvik's top player in his first season with the team. Central Michigan University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Van leads league in rebounds with 14.6rpg. Van is in league's top in and averages solid 1.3bpg and 54.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Christopher Smith (204-PF-82, agency: R.H.Consultancy) of Fjolnir. He is American forward in his first season at Fjolnir. In the last game Smith recorded impressive double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Fjolnir lost that game 75-100 to the higher-ranked Njardvik (#7, 10-9). Fjolnir are still at the very bottom. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Fjolnir managed to get this year. Smith is a newcomer at Fjolnir and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#3). He also registered 11.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-C-88) of league's leader Grindavik. Thorsteinsson showcased his all-around game by recording 13 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Grindavik, leading his team to a 100-87 easy win against the lower-ranked KR (#6, 10-9). Grindavik confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 4 lost games. Thorsteinsson has a very solid season. In 19 games in Iceland he scored 13.8ppg. He also has 7.4rpg, 1.3bpg and FGP: 59.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ryan Amoroso (205-F-85) of Snaefell - 25 points and 9 rebounds
5. Sammy Zeglinski (182-PG-88) of Grindavik - 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Drew Gibson (188-G-85) of Tindastoll - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists

10. David Jackson (201-F-88) of Thor Thorl - 30 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
