Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Irish who are currently playing abroad.

Donnie McGrath
Donnie McGrath
#1. This week's number one is former international guard Donnie McGrath (193-84, college: Providence, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Lithuania. McGrath could not help Zalgiris (13-10) to beat ALBA Berlin (7-16). He recorded 5 points. The sixth-placed Zalgiris was crushed 77-55 on the road by the lower-ranked ALBA Berlin (#7) in the group E of Euroleague. McGrath's team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Top 16. And that game will be critical. This season McGrath averages: 5.0ppg, 2FGP: 28.6% and FT: 75.0%. He is a naturalized American. McGrath played for the Irish senior national team five years ago. Strangely he has never played in Ireland.

Colin O'Reilly
Colin O'Reilly
#2. Second place goes to former international forward Colin O'Reilly (200-84, college: Post, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL. O'Reilly was not able to help Plymouth Raiders (19-12) in their last game. Despite his good performance Plymouth Raiders lost 72-78 in Sheffield to the lower-ranked (#7) One Health Sharks. O'Reilly scored 11 points and added 8 passes in 40 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's O'Reilly's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 11.8ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 52.7%, 3FGP: 33.6% and FT: 72.9% in the 31 games he played so far. O'Reilly played for the Irish national team in 2009.

Bryan Mullins
Bryan Mullins
#3. The Irish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international point guard Bryan Mullins (185-87, college: S.Illinois, currently plays in France). He was not able to secure a victory for Chalons-Reims (19-10) in their game against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (22-7) in the French ProB (second division). Mullins scored 6 points and had 3 steals. Chalons-Reims was badly defeated 75-55 on the opponent's court by the leading Pau-Lacq-Orthez. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Mullins belongs to league's most steals and is ranked #3. His overall stats this season are: 7.7ppg, 2.4rpg, 3.9apg, 2.2spg, 2FGP: 49.1%, 3FGP: 33.8% and FT: 66.7%. Mullins is a naturalized American. He played for the Irish national team four years ago. Apparently Mullins has never played in Ireland.

Mark Reynolds
Mark Reynolds
#4. Forward Mark Reynolds (197-84, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Durham Wildcats in their game against Leicester Riders (28-2) in the British BBL. He cannot count it as his best performance. Reynolds scored only 1 points in 9 minutes on the court. Durham Wildcats was crushed 93-70 in Leicester by the leading Riders. This year Reynolds averages just 1.2ppg in the 26 games. He used to play for the Irish national team back in 2007.

The list of other players, who all have Irish passport but never been selected to any of Irish national teams:

#1. Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88, college: Vanderbilt, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Brose Baskets Bamberg's victory against the league outsider LTi 46ers (4-24) crushing them 105-54 in the German BBL in Sunday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. Ogilvy also added 3 blocks in 20 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Brose Baskets Bamberg (22-5) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Ogilvy has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.3bpg in the three games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and Irish.

#2. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Spain) led Blusens Monbus to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (15-12) 72-70 in the Spanish ACB last Saturday. Kendall scored 14 points and blocked 2 blocks. Blusens Monbus Obradoiro CAB (14-13) is placed eighth in the ACB. Kendall has relatively good stats this season: 12.3ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Irish.

#3. Will Hanley (200-G/F-90, agency: Duran International, college: Bowdoin, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help one of league's weakest teams Valencia Basket (16-11) to beat Regal FC Barcelona (18-9). Hanley scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 10 minutes. It was his first game for Valencia Basket this season. Valencia Basket was crushed 94-62 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Regal FC Barcelona. It was Valencia Basket's first loss after three consecutive victories. Hanley is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Ireland.

Donaghy's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 2 days ago
34-year old swingman Kieran Donaghy (198-G/F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Tralee and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. He had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed DCU Saints (#10, 1-4) with 25-point margin 89-64. Tralee is placed at 3rd position in Irish league. They are still close to the very top. Tralee would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a sol...   [read more]

Super League Round 5: Killester beats Belfast Star by two after a very close game - 4 days ago
There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of Super League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The most exciting game of round 5 in the Super League took place in Belfast. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Belfast Star (3-2) to eighth ranked Killester (3-2) 75-73 in the game for the fourth place. Luis Garcia-hoyos orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 1...   [read more]

Marcus Thomas (Fr Matthews : Div 1) a throwback to Ireland in The 1980's - 4 days ago
Went to cover 1st live game this season with EuroBasket where incidentally the Ladies at the club as Ladies will do were doing the so often mundane though no less important jobs impressed upon me the realization that a mention here would not go unoticed. Fr Matthew's Criost Ri Gym and the opponent's were Titans (where incidentally I interviewed for head coach job at Titans a few years ago .....some ridiculous questions asked then (And what type of offences would you run ? ...I'm like have...   [read more]
