Mardyke UCC Demons Cork have issued a press release announcing former star Colin O'Reilly (200-F-84, college: Post) as their new player/coach for the 2013/14 season

Official Club Press Release from Mardyke UCC Demons Cork - Colin O Reilly Named as Mardyke UCC Demons Cork Head Coach for 2013/2014 Season

UCC DEMONS are pleased to announce the appointment of Colin OReilly as their choice of Superleague Coach for 2013/14 season. Colin who commenced playing with Mardyke UCC Demons Cork in 2005 has been to Germany and the UK, playing in their premier leagues. He did return to play with the Demons in their most successful 2008/09 season when they captured the treble of Conference, League and Cup.
During Colins sojourn in England he was actively involved within the coaching setup at Cheshire Jets and Plymouth Raiders and was player assistant during his final year at Cheshire Jets. Initially, it is as a player that he has come to the fore playing with Ireland from underage level right through to senior international at the European Championship qualifiers under the expert coaching of Jay Larranaga who is now part of the Boston Celtics coaching set up, Colin also spent a couple of years from 2002 in the USA with Post University, Connecticut on a basketball scholarship.
His initial foray into the professional leagues in Europe was with Essen in Germany where he spent two seasons in a very competitive league. His time in the UK was split between Cheshire Jets playing a significant role within their playing and coaching setup over three seasons, In the 2012/13 season Colin transferred to Plymouth Jets. With plenty of opportunities to further his professional playing career he decided to involve himself more with the coaching and fitness aspect of the game.
Along with the playing, and coaching involvement Colin is putting an amount of emphasis into the Strength & Conditioning of athletes in a variety of sports and hopes to shortly qualify in this sphere.
Blue Demons Basketball Club are delighted that Colin will be renewing his association with former team mates Shane Coughlan, Niall Murphy, Niall OReilly, Carlton Cuff, Shane Duggan & Kyle Hosford.
The fans and critics alike can look forward to Colin calling the plays, pulling the strings and in his efforts in harmonising a squad of exceptionally talented players into contenders for all major trophies on offer during 2013/14 season.

Colin O Reilly Mardyke UCC Demons Cork Head Coach

It's a great honour to have been appointed head coach of Mardyke UCC Demons Cork. I have played and won with a lot of the players involved in the current squad and I am looking forward to joining the Demons family again. I am well aware of the tradition and history of the club and will prepare the team in the best way possible to live up to the high standards of Demons fans
