Karima
Christmas
American Karima Christmas (182-G/F-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for Maccabi R.Hen and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 24-year old swingman had a double-double of 22 points and twenty one rebounds, while her team crushed Elitzur Netanya (#6, 2-4) with 22-point margin 74-52. Maccabi R.Hen is placed at 4th position in Israeli D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Maccabi R.Hen will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. Christmas turned to be Maccabi R.Hen's top player in her first season with the team. Duke University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Christmas. Christmas is in league's top in points (7th best: 17.3ppg) and averages solid 56.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Amanda Thompson (183-F-87) of H.R. Le-Zion. Thompson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 31 points and 15 rebounds. It was enough for H.R. Le-Zion to edge slightly lower-ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (#9, 1-6) by 3 points 81-78. This victory allowed H.R. Le-Zion to move up to 7th position in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-4 record. Thompson is a newcomer at H.R. Le-Zion and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Christine Flores (190-F-90) of Elitzur Netanya (#6). Flores scored 23 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Flores' great performance Elitzur Netanya lost 52-74 to slightly higher-ranked Maccabi R.Hen (#4, 4-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Elitzur Netanya not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Flores could try to bring Elitzur Netanya's a little bit higher in the standings. Flores has individually a great season in Israel. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.0ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 11.8rpg (2nd best). She also has 2.2bpg and FGP: 56.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Naama Shafir (170-G-90) of Elitzur Ramla - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists
5. Kamiko Williams (180-G-91) of Elitzur Holon - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Ashley Shields (180-SG-85) of Maccabi R.Hen - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Bernice Mosby (186-SF-84) of Elitzur Holon - 24 points and 7 rebounds
8. Jessica Breland (190-F-88) of Bnot Hertzeliya - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists

10. Shamela Hampton (191-C-87) of Ramat Hasharon - 18 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
