Hopson's 28 points and 9 rebounds give him Player of the Week award - May 3, 2013

Scotty
Hopson
23-year old guard Scotty Hopson (200-G-89) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Hapoel Eilat and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage).
He had the game-high 28 points adding nine rebounds and two assists for Hapoel Eilat in his team's victory, helping them to beat Maccabi T-A (#1, 21-5) 89-82. Hapoel Eilat maintains the 2nd position in Israeli league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Hapoel Eilat will need more victories to improve their 17-9 record. In the team's last game Hopson had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Hapoel Eilat's top player in his first season with the team. University of Tennessee graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hopson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 19.0ppg) and averages solid 61.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Diamon Simpson (201-F-87) of Maccabi Ashdod. He is American forward in his first season at Maccabi Ashdod. In the last game Simpson recorded impressive 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Maccabi Ashdod lost that game 77-85 to slightly lower-ranked Bnei Hasharon (#-1, 9-17). Despite lost game Maccabi Ashdod moved up to -2th position in Places 7-12. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-16 record. Simpson is a newcomer at Maccabi Ashdod and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.6ppg (#5). He also registered 8.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Jerome Dyson (191-G-87) of Hapoel Holon (#-3). Dyson scored 22 points and passed seven assists. Despite Dyson's great performance Hapoel Holon lost 75-78 to #-5 ranked Galil Gilboa. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Hapoel Holon ranking at the top of Places 7-12, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Dyson could help Hapoel Holon to bring them higher in the standings. Dyson has a great season in Israel. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.3ppg (best scorer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Adrian Uter (200-F/C-84) of Maccabi Rishon - 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Ronald Steele (187-PG-86) of Hapoel J-M - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Raymar Morgan (202-F/C-88) of Netanya - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Julien Mills (193-G/F-85) of Elizur Ashkelon - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Curtis Kelly (205-PF-88) of Hapoel T-A - 10 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Romel Beck (201-G/F-82) of Bnei Hasharon - 26 points and 2 assists
10. Marco Killingsworth (203-F/C-82) of Netanya - 22 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

National League Round 3 of Semi-Finals. Wins for Ironi Nes-Ziona and Hapoel B/S - 23 hours ago
Ironi Nes-Ziona - Maccabi H/H 94-80 Ironi Nes-Ziona outgunned Maccabi Hod Hasharon to gain 2-1 lead in the semifinal series. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Hasharon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
