Craig Smith
Hapoel Jerusalem has released power forward Craig Smith (201-F-83, college: Boston Coll.), who will depart for the United States tomorrow, Saturday, according to a tweet by Eurobasket's David Pick.
Eurobasket also informs that Smith and Jerusalem are likely to agree on a two-month compensation, despite Smith signing a guaranteed contract.
Smith's stint in Israel ended earlier than expected as a result of his terrible relationship with Hapoel head coach, Sharon Drucker.
Last week, Smith wasn't permitted to participate in team training and was absent from Jerusalem's road loss to Maccabi Haifa after publicly calling out Drucker.
Smith, the most high-profiled player on Jerusalem's roster and the main presence inside the paint for the team, will now compete without its so-called "Rhino."
According to sources close to the situation, Jerusalem is examining a number of potential recruits to fill in the void left by Smith.
