The Regular Season in National League just ended.

The playoffs will start this week, the series:

Nes Ziona-Galil.
Nahariya-Kiryat Ata.
Hod Hasharon-Yavne.
Afula-Ramat Gan.



The game between Top Four teams took place in Nahariya. Second ranked host Ironi Nahariya (21-5) defeated one of their biggest challengers Hod Hasharon (18-8) 90-80. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-80. Guard Aviram Zelkovits (193-89) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Ironi Nahariya's coach Shay Minister used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian power forward Chukwudinma Odiakosa (203-85, college: Illinois St., agency: N.E.T.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ironi Nahariya maintains second position with 21-5 record behind leader Ironi Nes-Ziona. Hod Hasharon at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost.
National League top team - Ironi Nes-Ziona (22-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Maccabi K/G (5-21) in Kiryat Gat 98-79. American swingman Bilal Benn (196-86, college: Niagara) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Tal Michael Dunne supported him with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Ironi Nes-Ziona's coach Nadav Zilberstein allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) did not help to save the game for Maccabi K/G. Ironi Nes-Ziona maintains first position with 22-4 record. Maccabi K/G lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 21 games lost.
A very close game took place in Beer Yaakov between Elitzur Ramla and Beer Yaakov. Tenth ranked Elitzur Ramla (10-16) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Beer Yaakov (10-16). Elitzur Ramla managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 in the game for the ninth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beer Yaakov. The best player for the winners was Johndre Jefferson who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds. Joshua Alexander produced 25 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Beer Yaakov's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Elitzur Ramla moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Macc.B.Yaakov.
A very interesting game took place in Kfar Saba. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 11th ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (8-18) to twelfth ranked Kiryat Tivon (8-18) 74-71 in the fight for the eleventh place. Tomer Ber-Aven orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kiryat Tivon moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hapoel K/S.
Fifth ranked Hapoel Afula (17-9) crushed at home 8th ranked Hapoel Kazrin (11-15) by 25 points 96-71, which is the biggest margin this round on Thursday night. Allen Durham had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hapoel Afula have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ironi Ramat Gan. Hapoel Kazrin lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost.

In the last two games of round 26 Ironi K-A lost to Ironi Ramat Gan on the opponent's court 71-89. Bottom-ranked Maccabi K/B unfortunately lost to Elitzur Yavne in a home game 68-77.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists by Tyrone Kent of Ironi Ramat Gan.

National League top team - Ironi Nes-Ziona (22-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Maccabi K/G (5-21) in Kiryat Gat 98-79. It looked good early as Maccabi K/G took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ironi Nes-Ziona had a 25-16 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi K/G was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-98. They outrebounded Maccabi K/G 42-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Ironi Nes-Ziona players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American swingman Bilal Benn (196-86, college: Niagara) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and naturalized Welsh forward Tal Michael Dunne (197-87) supported him with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Benn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. Rather expected game when 7th ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (15-11) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (17-9) 89-71 on Thursday. The game without a history. Ironi Ramat Gan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American swingman Tyrone Kent (196-86, college: Toledo) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Itay Grinboim (193-85, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Kent is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) responded with 22 points and his fellow American import forward Ivory Clark (198-85) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ironi Ramat Gan have a solid three-game winning streak. Fifth ranked Hapoel Afula (17-9) crushed at home 8th ranked Hapoel Kazrin (11-15) by 25 points 96-71, which is the biggest margin this round on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Afula. Hapoel Kazrin was better in third quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Afula forced 19 Hapoel Kazrin turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Oz Blayzer (199-92) chipped in 14 points during the contest. American guard Joshua Alexander (193-87, college: SF Austin) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Inan Iram (194-88, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Beer Yaakov's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Elitzur Ramla moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Macc.B.Yaakov.

A very interesting game took place in Kfar Saba. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 11th ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (8-18) to twelfth ranked Kiryat Tivon (8-18) 74-71 in the fight for the eleventh place. Kiryat Tivon made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Swingman Tomer Ber-Aven (196-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Belizean-American forward Alex Carcamo (200-77, college: E.Washington, agency: Dream Team Management) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Kiryat Tivon players scored in double figures. Forward Eitan Rotemberg (197-91) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Maurice McNeil (205-87, college: Houston) added 23 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Kfar Saba. Kiryat Tivon moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hapoel K/S.
