Here is the weekly review of the top performing Israeli players, who play currently abroad.


Omri Casspi

   #1. This week's number one is an international small forward Omri Casspi (204-88, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Cleveland Cavaliers (22-52) to beat the Atlanta Hawks (42-34). Casspi recorded 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 17 minutes on the court. But the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 94-102 on the road to the Hawks. It was Cavaliers' tenth consecutive loss in a row. This year Casspi averages: 3.7ppg, 2.1rpg, 2FGP: 40.6%, 3FGP: 32.8% and FT: 51.7% in the 35 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Israeli senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85, currently plays in Russia). Naimy contributed to a 3-point Triumph Lyubertsy's victory against the closely-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (10-18) 85-82 in the Russian PBL last Monday. He scored 10 points and added 4 assists. Triumph Lyubertsy (6-9) is placed fourth in the PBL. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Naimy's overall stats this season are: 8.9ppg, 1.3rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 42.5%, 3FGP: 41.0% and FT: 77.8%. He is in the roster of the Israeli senior national team.

   #3. The Israeli player who performed third best last week abroad was former U20 international guard Oded Brandwein (186-88, agency: N.E.T., currently plays in Poland). Brandwein was the major contributor in a Energa Czarni's victory against the fifth-ranked Trefl Sopot (17-11) 64-59 in the Polish TBL on Saturday night. He scored 13 points and added 4 assists in 24 minutes. Energa Czarni Slupsk (14-13) is placed sixth in Places 1-6 group. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. Brandwein is ranked seventh on the list of the best passers in the league with 3.9apg. This year his other stats are: 10.8ppg, 1.1rpg, 2FGP: 40.7%, 3FGP: 41.0% and FT: 83.7% in the 24 games. Brandwein has a dual citizenship: Israeli and Polish. Former Elitzur Yavne starter played for the Israeli U20 national team five years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Yotam Halperin (193-84, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German BBL was not able to help Bayern Muenchen (18-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Bayern Muenchen was defeated 70-66 in Quakenbrueck by the lower-ranked Artland Dragons (#6). Halperin scored 12 points and added 3 assists. Halperin's overall stats this season are: 5.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3spg. He is also Israeli national team player.

Alex Tyus

   #5. International center Alex Tyus (205-88, college: Florida, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Cantu (15-10) in their game against Juvecaserta (11-14) in the Italian SerieA. Tyus recorded 6 points and blocked 2 blocks in only 10 minutes. Cantu was edged 66-65 at home by the lower-ranked (#9) Juvecaserta. This year Tyus' overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.2bpg in the 24 games. He is a naturalized American. Tyus plays currently for the Israeli national team. He used to play for Maccabi Ashdod in Israeli league.

   #6. Center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group, currently plays in Poland) led Start Gdynia to a victory over the leader Polpharma (14-13) 74-70 in the Polish TBL on Friday night. Rothbart was MVP of the game. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. KS Start Gdynia (8-19) is placed fifth in Places 7-12 group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Rothbart's first season with the team. Rothbart is currently seventh on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (fifth place). He has very reliable stats this season: 14.6ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.3bpg. Rothbart is an international player who is currently on the senior Israeli National Team roster.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Israeli passport:

   #1. Guy Aud (188-G-89, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Finke Baskets' surprising victory against the fourth-ranked BG Karlsruhe (16-7) 84-73 in the German ProA (second division) in Thursday night's game. Aud scored 9 points and added 6 assists in 32 minutes. Finke Baskets Paderborn (12-18) is placed 13th in the ProA. The Regular Season already ended. Aud is ranked fourth on the list of the best passers in the league with 5.5apg. He also averaged so far 9.6ppg and 2.8rpg in the 28 games he played so far. Aud has a dual citizenship: Israeli and German. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

30-year old forward Jeff Adrien (201-F-86) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Bnei Hertzeliyya and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 33. He had a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Maccabi Rishon (#7, 17-16) 104-110. Bnei Hertzeliyya maintains the 5th position in Israeli league. Twelfth defeat of league's leader Hapoel Eilat (21-12) against sixth ranked Ironi Nahariya (18-15) 80-78 was the most important game of the last round.
