The Second Stage in Winner League just started.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Hapoel Tel-Aviv smashed 5th ranked Bnei Hasharon at home 79-60. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Hapoel Tel-Aviv's pressure prevailed and they won that period 29-14 extending their advantage to 19 points. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach Erez Edelshtein used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) answered with 17 points for Bnei Hasharon. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the fifth place with 15 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Maccabi Ashdod on the road.

At the losing side forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to third place in League. Hapoel Holon at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 14 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against league's leader Hapoel Tel-Aviv at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Holon will play against Ironi Ashkelon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American players dominated also this game. Jamar Smith fired 23 points and 5 assists for the winners. Galil Gilboa moved-up to second place in League. Ironi Ashkelon at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 18 games lost. Galil Gilboa will have a break next round. Ironi Ashkelon will play on the road against Hapoel Holon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In League Maccabi Rishon was smashed by Hapoel Eilat on the road 95-76.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 21 points and 20 rebounds by Eli Holman of Hapoel Eilat.

Maccabi Haifa trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 31-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-99 at the end of the game. GreenTops Netanya made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage.
