There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in Winner League. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position and games ending by tiny margin.

Round 3 in Winner League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Rosh Pina where host Galil Gilboa (12-12) edged league's leader Hapoel Tel-Aviv (12-13) 82-79 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 45-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Galil Gilboa outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 41-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored 27 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) who recorded 18 points and 4 assists. Galil Gilboa keeps a position of League leader. Newly promoted Hapoel Tel-Aviv dropped to the second place with 13 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play next round against Ironi Ashkelon trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Galil Gilboa will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Hapoel Holon on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in Ashkelon. Sixth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (6-19) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Maccabi Ashdod (10-15) 92-89 on Thursday evening. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for swingman Jarvis Hayes (201-81, college: Georgia) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Marque Perry contributed with 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Ashkelon maintains sixth place in League with 6-19 record. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will play against league's second-placed Hapoel Tel-Aviv on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tel-Aviv. First ranked Maccabi T-A faced 3rd placed Maccabi Haifa. Host Maccabi T-A (21-3) defeated guests from Haifa (15-10) 76-72. It was a great evening for Devin Smith who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Pat Calathes with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place in League with 21-3 record. Loser Maccabi Haifa keeps the third position with ten games lost. Maccabi T-A will meet league's second-placed Hapoel Eilat on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Haifa will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and hope to secure a win.
The game in Rishon Le-Zion supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked GreenTops Netanya (14-11) played at the court of 6th ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-14). GreenTops Netanya smashed Maccabi Rishon 83-61. It was an exceptional evening for Deron Washington who led the winners and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GreenTops Netanya maintains fourth place in League with 14-11 record. Maccabi Rishon at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. GreenTops Netanya's next round opponent will be Hapoel Jerusalem (#5) at home. Maccabi Rishon will play against Maccabi Haifa.

The best player for the winners was Scotty Hopson who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Newly promoted Hapoel Eilat maintains second place in League with 16-9 record having just -5 point less than leader Galil Gilboa. Loser Hapoel Jerusalem keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Hapoel Eilat will face league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Jerusalem will play on the road against GreenTops Netanya (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 3 In League Hapoel Holon defeated Bnei Hasharon in a road game 92-83.
The best stats of 3rd round was 24 points and 21 rebounds by Frank Hassell of Hapoel Holon.

The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-72. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi T-A made 13 blocks. It was a great evening for American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) helped adding 15 points. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon - Hapoel Holon 83-92

There was no surprise in Hod Hasharon where 5th ranked Bnei Hasharon (8-16) was defeated by third ranked Hapoel Holon (11-14) 92-83 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-23. But Bnei Hasharon won second period 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) chipped in 33 points (!!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 27 points and guard Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) added 14 points and 9 assists respectively. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon maintains third place in League with 11-14 record behind leader Galil Gilboa. Loser Bnei Hasharon keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Hapoel Holon will face league's leader Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
