The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
Sixteenth-ranked Latina Basket (9-18) was very close to win a game against second ranked Matera (18-9) on Sunday. Matera managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 30-23. But Latina Basket won second period 17-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Andrea Vitale (199-82, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Forward Filippo Gagliardo (206-78) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for Latina Basket. Matera maintains second place with 18-9 record having five points less than leader Torino. Latina Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with San Severo. Matera are looking forward to face Agrigento (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Matteo Raminelli came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for Treviglio in the defeat. Torino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-4 record. Treviglio at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Lucca. Torino will meet Chieti (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Treviglio will play against Casalpusterlengo (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game in Casalpusterlengo was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Lucca (14-12) played at the court of seventh ranked Casalpusterlengo (14-11). Casalpusterlengo defeated Lucca 73-63. There were no big surprises in other games of round 29: Reggio Calabr. beat Perugia on the road 79-67. Ferrara won against Castelletto on its own court 76-72. Omegna unfortunately lost to Bari in a road game 60-63.

Montepaschi made it seven in a row! They overcame Acea Virtus Roma on the road tonight to win the SeriaA Finals 4-1. Bobby Brown (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) was pivotal with 18 points in the victory. Virtus Roma had their backs against the wall heading into this one. But Siena used all of their experience to control this one. The visitors held Roma to 13 points in the first ten minutes and posted a 2-point lead at the break. The teams traded baskets throughout the second frame. Siena and Virtus Roma arrived at halftime tied at 33-all. But Siena made a decisive push in the third term. The visitors exploded with 27 points in the third period to gain a comfortable 13-point lead at the final break. Roma got within 8 early in the fourth frame but Siena stayed calm. They kept the hosts at safe distance throughout the reminder of the contest and triumphed in SeriaA once again.
