The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Torino (23-7) on the court of tenth ranked Firenze on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Firenze 71-41. The game without a history. Firenze led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Torino to just 6 points in third quarter. Firenze dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Torino's 14. Firenze forced 20 Torino turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Swingman Daniele Casadei (199-81) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Mattia Caroldi (185-82) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Firenze's coach Riccardo Paolini felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) with 4 points and 10 rebounds. Firenze (15-15) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bari. Torino lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with seven games lost. Firenze is looking forward to face Chieti (#13) on the road in the next round. Torino will have a break next round.
Twelfth-ranked Naturhouse Ferrara (13-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Matera (20-10). The visitors from Matera managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Naturalized Argentinian guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) nailed 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Massimo Rezzano accounted for 12 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Michele Benfatto (205-85) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Naturhouse Ferrara in the defeat. Matera maintains second place with 20-10 record having just three points less than leader Torino. Newly promoted Naturhouse Ferrara keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Chieti and Recanati. Matera will play against Casalpusterlengo (#4) at home in the next round. Naturhouse Ferrara will play against Agrigento (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Castelletto. Third ranked host Castelletto (18-12) smashed 4th placed Agrigento (17-14) 82-59. The best player for the winners was Francesco Ihedioha who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Albano Chiarastella who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds. Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Castelletto maintains third place with 18-12 record having five points less than leader Torino. Newly promoted Agrigento dropped to the fifth position with 14 games lost. Castelletto will meet Reggio Calabr. (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Agrigento will play against Naturhouse Ferrara (#14) and hope to secure a win.
Lucca (#5) was upset in Omegna by eighth ranked Omegna 54-48. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lucca. It was a good game for Stefano Masciadri who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Omegna have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 16-14 record. Newly promoted Lucca dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Omegna's next round opponent will be Perugia (#18) on the road and are hoping to win another game.
Important game to mention about took place in Recanati. Fourteenth ranked Recanati (13-17) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 11th ranked Reggio Calabr. (14-16) 60-57 on Sunday evening. Fabio Stefanini stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Reggio Calabr.'s coach Francesco Ponticiello rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Recanati moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ferrara and Chieti. Reggio Calabr. lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Recanati will face higher ranked Bari (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 33: Chieti lost to Latina Basket on the opponent's court 68-74. San Severo unfortunately lost to Mirandola in a home game 74-81. Bari was rolled over Casalpusterlengo on the road 55-88.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 9 rebounds by Alberto Chiumenti of Casalpusterlengo.


Latina Basket - Chieti 74-68

There was a minor upset when 13th ranked Chieti (13-17) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Latina Basket (12-18) 74-68 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Chieti won third quarter 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Manuel Carrizo (198-80, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Tommaso Milani (190-88) chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international center Emanuele Rossi (208-82) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Serbian forward Marko Micevic (198-89) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Latina Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixteenth place with 12-18 record. Chieti at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Latina Basket will face higher ranked Mirandola (#15) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

San Severo - Mirandola 74-81

Rather predictable result when fifteenth ranked Mirandola (13-18) defeated on the road 17th ranked Mazzeo San Severo (10-21) 81-74 on Sunday. Mazzeo San Severo trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 19-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-81 at the end of the game. Point guard Jordan Losi (182-80) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Luca Pignatti (195-86) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Ivan Scarponi (196-86) scored 22 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Mirandola maintains fifteenth place with 13-18 record. Mazzeo San Severo at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 21 games lost. Mirandola will face Latina Basket (#16) at home in the next round. Mazzeo San Severo will play against Bologna in Ozzano Emilia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Bari (15-15) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Casalpusterlengo (17-13) 88-55 on Sunday. The game without a history. Casalpusterlengo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Casalpusterlengo outrebounded Bari 43-26 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Torino (23-7) on the court of tenth ranked Firenze on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Firenze 71-41. The game without a history. Firenze dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Torino's 14. Firenze forced 20 Torino turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Swingman Daniele Casadei (199-81) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Mattia Caroldi (185-82) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Firenze's coach Riccardo Paolini felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) with 4 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Daniele Sandri (197-90) scored 11 points. Firenze (15-15) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bari. Torino lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with seven games lost.
