The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Cimberio Varese (20-6) on the court of twelfth ranked Sutor Montegranaro on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Sutor Montegranaro 93-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cimberio Varese. Cimberio Varese was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Sutor Montegranaro made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. American forward Christian Burns (203-85, college: Philadelphia, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Daniele Cinciarini (194-83) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Sutor Montegranaro's coach Carlo Recalcati used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Sutor Montegranaro have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Vanoli CR. Cimberio Varese at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Sutor Montegranaro is looking forward to face higher ranked Cantu (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cimberio Varese will play against Armani Milano (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Banco di Sard. (18-8) against seventh ranked Trenkwalder RE (15-11) on Sunday night. Visiting Banco di Sard. was crushed by Trenkwalder RE in Reggio Emilia 101-75. American point guard Troy Bell (186-80, college: Boston Coll.) notched 28 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Greg Brunner supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Banco di Sard.. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trenkwalder RE moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cantu and Montepaschi. Banco di Sard. lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with eight games lost. Trenkwalder RE will play against Air Avellino (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Banco di Sard. will play against Lottomatica Roma (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Lottomatica Roma (17-9) against tenth ranked Air Avellino (11-14) on Sunday night. Host Lottomatica Roma was defeated by Air Avellino in a tough game in Roma in overtime75-81. The best player for the winners was Jaka Lakovic who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Luigi Datome produced 14 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Air Avellino have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 11-14 record. Loser Lottomatica Roma keeps the third place with nine games lost. Air Avellino will meet at home higher ranked Trenkwalder RE (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lottomatica Roma will play against the league's second-placed Banco di Sard. (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Bottom-ranked Angelico Biella managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they won against sixth-ranked Cantu 82-77. Trey Johnson orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 4 assists. Cantu's coach Andrea Trinchieri rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Angelico Biella maintains sixteenth position with 6-20 record. Cantu lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Angelico Biella's next round opponent will be higher ranked Enel Brindisi (#13) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Cantu will play against Sutor Montegranaro (#12).
An interesting game took place in Cremona where higher ranked Montepaschi Siena (15-11) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Vanoli Cremona (11-15) 81-71 on Sunday. Luca Vitali had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners. Montepaschi Siena's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vanoli Cremona maintains eleventh position with 11-15 record, which they share with Sutor MGR. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Vanoli Cremona will face VL Pesaro (#15) on the road in the next round. Montepaschi Siena will play against Oknoplast BO (#14) in Bologna.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 26: Enel Brindisi lost to JuveCaserta on the opponent's court 63-78. Oknoplast BO was outscored by Umana VE in a home game 66-85. Pesaro was rolled over EA7 Armani on the road 93-65.

Sutor MGR - Cimberio VA 93-91
