The Regular Season in SerieA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Varese. First ranked Cimberio Varese faced 4th placed Armani Milano. Host Cimberio Varese (21-6) defeated guests from Milano (16-11) 95-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Armani Milano. The game was mostly controlled by Cimberio Varese. Armani Milano managed to win third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Cimberio Varese's coach Francesco Vitucci used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who recorded 26 points and 4 steals (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Cimberio Varese maintains first place with 21-6 record. Armani Milano at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Cimberio Varese are looking forward to face Vanoli Cremona (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Armani Milano will play against Angelico Biella (#16) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sassari. Second ranked Banco di Sard. faced 3rd placed Lottomatica Roma. Host Banco di Sard. (19-8) defeated guests from Roma (17-10) 105-87. It was a good game for American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. Drake Diener contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Banco di Sard.'s coach Romeo Sacchetti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Phil Goss (186-83, college: Drexel) answered with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for Lottomatica Roma. Banco di Sard. maintains second place with 19-8 record having just two points less than leader Cimberio VA. Lottomatica Roma lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with ten games lost. Banco di Sard. will play against Oknoplast BO (#15) in Bologna in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lottomatica Roma will play at home against Enel Brindisi (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Venezia between Juvecaserta and Umana Venezia. Ninth ranked Juvecaserta (13-14) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Umana Venezia (14-13). Juvecaserta managed to escape with a 3-point win 88-85 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Umana Venezia. It was a great evening for Stevan Jelovac who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Alvin Young with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Umana Venezia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juvecaserta have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 13-14 record. Loser Umana Venezia keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Juvecaserta will meet at home Air Avellino (#10) in the next round. Umana Venezia will play against Montepaschi Siena and hope to secure a win.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Pesaro, where higher ranked Vanoli Cremona (11-16) lost to fifteenth ranked VL Pesaro (9-18) in a road game 81-88. It was an exceptional evening for Lamont Mack who led the winners and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). VL Pesaro moved-up to fourteenth place. Vanoli Cremona at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. VL Pesaro's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sutor Montegranaro (#13) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Cantu. Local Cantu (16-11) outscored 12th ranked Sutor Montegranaro (11-16) 85-61 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sutor Montegranaro. The best player for the winners was Pietro Aradori who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cantu moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Sutor Montegranaro dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Cantu will face Trenkwalder RE (#6) in Reggio Emilia in the next round. Sutor Montegranaro will play at home against VL Pesaro (#14).

Other games of round 27 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
bottom-ranked Angelico BI was defeated by Enel Brindisi in a road game 101-94. Sidigas AV was beaten by Trenkwalder RE at home 69-78. Oknoplast BO was destroyed by Montepaschi on the opponent's court 75-55.

Enel Brindisi - Angelico BI 101-94

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Angelico Biella (6-21) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Enel Brindisi (11-16) 101-94 on Sunday. Angelico Biella trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 27-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-101 at the end of the game. Enel Brindisi made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game.
