Marvis
Thornton
Fifteenth-ranked Oknoplast BO (8-19) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Banco di Sard. (20-8) in Bologna on Sunday. The visitors from Sassari managed to secure only ten-point victory 120-110. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Marvis Thornton who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 rebounds. Oknoplast BO's coach Luca Bechi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Banco di Sard. maintains second position with 20-8 record having just two points less than leader Cimberio VA. Oknoplast BO lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 19 games lost. Banco di Sard. will face Juvecaserta (#9) in Caserta in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oknoplast BO will play on the road against Enel Brindisi (#12).

Other games in round 28 were not that significant. Cantu was beaten by Trenkwalder RE on the road 71-65. JuveCaserta lost to Sidigas AV on its own court 75-85. Pesaro managed to outperform Sutor MGR in a road game 108-94. Acea Virtus RM managed to beat Enel Brindisi at home 88-82. Cimberio VA defeated Vanoli CR on the opponent's court 92-88. EA7 Armani beat Angelico BI in a home game 85-67. Umana VE lost to Montepaschi on the road 81-83.
The most impressive performance of 28th round was 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks by Andrea Crosariol of Pesaro.

Trenkwalder RE - Cantu 71-65

Everything could happen in Reggio Emilia at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Trenkwalder RE and 6th ranked Cantu had identical 16-11 record. This time Trenkwalder RE used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Cantu 71-65 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 37-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Donnel Taylor (198-82, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import point guard Troy Bell (186-80, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Trenkwalder RE's coach Massimiliano Menetti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Stefano Mancinelli (203-83) replied with 14 points and the former international Pietro Aradori (195-88) added 15 points in the effort for Cantu. Trenkwalder RE have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Montepaschi and EA7 Armani. Cantu at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Trenkwalder RE will face Vanoli Cremona (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. JuveCaserta - Sidigas AV 75-85

Sutor MGR - Pesaro 94-108

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourteenth ranked VL Pesaro (10-18) won against on the road 13th ranked Sutor Montegranaro (11-17) 108-94 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 108-94. Acea Virtus RM - Enel Brindisi 88-82

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Enel Brindisi (11-17) lost on the road to third ranked Lottomatica Roma (18-10) 88-82 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Enel Brindisi was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 25-10 charge of Lottomatica Roma, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Lottomatica Roma forced 23 Enel Brindisi turnovers. Enel Brindisi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Enel Brindisi's coach Pier Luigi Bucchi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lottomatica Roma maintains third position with 18-10 record having four points less than leader Cimberio VA. Newly promoted Enel Brindisi dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Lottomatica Roma will face bottom-ranked Angelico Biella (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Enel Brindisi will play against Oknoplast BO (#15) in Bologna.
