Lithuania held off Latvia in the Baltic derby at 2013 EuroBasket. Jonas Valanciunas (211-C-92) posted 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Lithuania to the second straight win at the tournament. Both teams are now at 2-1 record in Group B.
The teams stayed close throughout the opening frame. Lithuania capped the period with 7 points in a row to eke out a 22:17 lead. Donatas Motiejunas (213-F/C-90, agency: Interperformances) and Jonas Maciulis (199-F/G-85) gave Lithuania a 31:21 lead midway through the second frame. Latvia managed to get within 8 points at the interval 31:39. Kristaps Janicenoks (196-F-83) dragged Latvia within 2 points and then Strelnieks tied things up at 45 midway through the third term. But Darjus Lavrinovic (212-C-79) came up with five straight points for Lithuania as they regained the lead. They entered the fourth frame up by 7 points 52:45. Latvia got within four points with just over four minutes remaining in regulation but Jonas Maciulis answered with a three-pointer and Lithuania cruised to the victory at the end. Donatas Motiejunas, Mantas Kalnietis (195-PG-86, agency: Interperformances), Darjus Lavrinovic, Jonas Maciulis and Tomas Delininkaitis (190-G-82) finished with 9 points each for the winners. Rolands Freimanis (210-PF-88) and Kristaps Janicenoks answered with 11 points apiece for Latvia.

26-year old guard Nauris Miezis (189-G-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Kekava and receives a Eurobasket.com LBL2 Player of the Week award for round 3. He had the game-high 38 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Kekava in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Madona (#6, 0-2) with 55-point margin 115-60. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, derby games and favorites losing the games. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Memele/Bauskas (2-1) in Riga on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by RSU (2-1) 108-67. Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Latvians who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is an international center Anzejs Pasecniks (218-95).
