Tyler Cain
American Tyler Cain (203-F-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Barons kvartals and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 30.
The 24-year old forward had the game-high 21 points adding five rebounds and two assists for Barons kvartals in his team's victory, helping them to crush Liepaja (#9, 10-16) with 22-point margin 93-71. It allowed Barons kvartals to jump to the first place in the Latvian LBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Barons kvartals has a very solid 17-9 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Cain had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Barons kvartals' top player in his first season with the team. University of South Dakota graduate has very impressive stats this year. Cain. Cain is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.1ppg) and averages solid 2.1bpg and 63.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 22-year old power forward Maris Ziedins (203-F/C-90) of Valmiera. Ziedins impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Valmiera was edged in overtime by the lower-ranked LU (#7, 11-16) 87-84. Valmiera managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 15-11 record is not bad at all. Ziedins is one of the most experienced players at Valmiera and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Lithuanian Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-C-84, agency: Interperformances) of VEF Riga (#5). Kavaliauskas scored 24 points. He was a key player of VEF Riga, leading his team to a 73-61 win against slightly higher-ranked Ventspils (#4, 13-2). Many experts and fans count VEF Riga as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 12 victories and only one lost games.. Kavaliauskas has a very solid season. In 11 games in Latvia he scored 11.9ppg. He also has 4.7rpg and FGP: 79.1%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Janis Antrops (200-G-91) of Turiba - 20 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
