The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets.

LBL round 34 caused change at the leadership position. Eleventh defeat of league's leader Jekabpils (18-11) against seventh ranked Latvijas Universitate (14-17) 94-73 was the most important game of the last round. 25 personal fouls committed by Jekabpils helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Zanis Peiners (204-90, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Klavs Strazdins (192-93) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for Jekabpils. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvijas Universitate moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Jekabpils dropped to the second position with 11 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Barons kvartals. Jekabpils will play next round against Turiba trying to make it back to the top of the standings.
