There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LBL. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: VEF Riga (#4) and Barons kvartals (#2). VEF Riga (17-1) crushed visiting Barons kvartals (20-13) by 26 points 107-81. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 69-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. VEF Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Barons kvartals' 32 and had 32 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Barons kvartals only scored sixteen points from the stripe. VEF Riga forced 19 Barons kvartals turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 34 personal fouls committed by Barons kvartals helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Will Daniels (203-86, college: Rhode Island) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Ilmars Bergmanis (184-81) who recorded 22 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. VEF Riga have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 17-1 record. Barons kvartals at the other side keep the second position with 13 games lost. VEF Riga's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Riga Latvijas Universitate.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Jekabpils (19-14) against fifth ranked Ventspils (16-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting Jekabpils were crushed by Ventspils in Ventspils 82-53. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Jelgava's 36 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Barons kvartals forced 28 Jelgava turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) accounted for 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Keith Chamberlain (204-87, college: Grinnell) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Shedrick Haynes (182-88, college: Tarleton St.) added 16 points respectively for Jelgava in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Barons kvartals maintains second place with 20-13 record having just three points less than leader Valmiera. Jelgava lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 20 games lost. Barons kvartals' next round opponent will be Jekabpils (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Jelgava will play against Latvijas Universitate (#6) in Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
