There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LSBL.

Undefeated leader Cesis delivered the twentiethth consecutive win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked TTT Juniores (8-14) 120-39. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TTT Juniores. The game without a history. Cesis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TTT Juniores to just 5 points in third quarter. Cesis held TTT Juniores to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.8 percent accuracy of the winners and made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while TTT Juniores only scored eleven points from the stripe. Cesis forced 25 TTT Juniores turnovers and outrebounded them 55-23 including a 22-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by TTT Juniores' players. 25 personal fouls committed by TTT Juniores helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Serbian forward Ines Ajanovic (195-80) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii) chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was guard Kate Aizsila (172-94) who recorded 14 points. Undefeated Cesis (20-0) have an impressive 20-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. TTT Juniores at the other side keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. Cesis are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tartu U. (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. TTT Juniores will have a break next round.

It was a good game for forward Alise Piterniece (180-88) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Joncelyn Peterkin contributed with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Estonian guard Kaiti Vasiljeva (177-87) replied with 15 points for Tartu U.Tartu U.'s coach Kaire Asi gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Liepajas maintains fifth position with 13-7 record. Tartu U. at the other side still closes the standings. Liepajas will play against Kolibri/U-16 (#10) in Riga in the next round where they are favorite. Tartu U. will play at home against the league's leader Cesis and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Kolibri/U-16 moved-up to ninth place, which they share with LU and Rapla KK. Loser Tartu U. still closes the standings. Kolibri/U-16 will meet higher ranked Liepajas (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tartu U. will play against the league's leader Cesis (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

The winners were led by Sigita Dzarcane who scored that evening 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Tartu U.'s coach Kaire Asi tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. TTT Juniores maintains eighth position with 8-14 record. Tartu U. at the other side still closes the standings. TTT Juniores will have a break next round. Tartu U. will play at home against the league's leader Cesis (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
The game in Audentes was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Tallina U. (11-10) played at the court of seventh ranked Audentes SG/N. (9-11). Audentes SG/N. managed to secure a 9-point victory 67-58 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Trine Kasemagi who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Audentes SG/N. maintains seventh position with 9-11 record. Loser Tallina U. keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Audentes SG/N. will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 24 RTU-Merks crushed LU in Riga 76-41.


Liepajas - Tartu U. 96-49

Bottom-ranked Tartu U. (0-19) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-49 loss to fifth ranked Liepajas (13-7) in Liepaja. The game without a history. Liepajas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Tartu U.'s 26. Liepajas forced 23 Tartu U. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 2 passes made by Tartu U.'s players. It was a good game for forward Alise Piterniece (180-88) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Joncelyn Peterkin (187-89, college: Point Park) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Liepajas players scored in double figures. Estonian guard Kaiti Vasiljeva (177-87) replied with 15 points and Estonian guard Sade Ereli (175-94) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tartu U.Tartu U.'s coach Kaire Asi gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. There was no surprise in Riga where 9th ranked Latvijas Universitate (4-16) was crushed by fourth ranked RTU-Merks (16-6) 76-41 on Saturday. The game without a history. RTU-Merks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Latvijas Universitate to just 4 points in second quarter and to 12 points in first half. RTU-Merks held Latvijas Universitate to an opponent 20.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.2 percent accuracy of the winners. RTU-Merks forced 20 Latvijas Universitate turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when RTU-Merks made 9 blocks. Latvijas Universitate was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Upkot Sparta Laarne (Top Division Women) tabbed 22-year old Latvian Kate Visnevica (175-95). The last time (12-13) she played at the junior team of TTT Juniores in Latvian LSBL. Visnevica missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball. Visnevica represented Latvia at the European Championships U16 Division B for Women in Arad (Romania) six years ago. TTT Riga (LSBL) added to their roster 28-year old British international center Azania Stewart (195-89, college: Florida, agency: ProDep Management). She has played for the last two seasons at Campus Promete in Spanish LFB league. In 26 games she recorded 4.3ppg and 3.4rpg last season.
