Croatia opened their 2013 EuroBasket campaign with victory. They came up strong in the second half to knock down Lithuania. Iva Sliskovic (190-C-84, college: S.Carolina) netted 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to pace the winners.
It was all going the Lithuanian way in the opening quarter. The Baltic team earned a 21:9 lead midway through the period. Misura and Ana Lelas (183-G/F-83) pulled Croatia within 4 points at the end of the quarter 22:26. Croatia stayed close but failed to surge ahead in the second period. Lithuania secured a 45:43 halftime lead. But Rezan and Misura opened the second half with five straight points to put Croatia in front 48:45. The lead changed hands throughout the period before Iva Sliskovic gave Croatia a 68:64 advantage. They opened the fourth frame with five consecutive points to boost the gap at 9-point mark. The gap soon grew at double digits and the Croatian side rolled to the victory at the end. Jelena Ivezic (182-F/G-84) provided 17 points, while Ana Lelas and Iva Ciglar (168-PG-85, agency: Data Plus Group) had 12 points each for the winning side. Gintare Petronyte (196-C-89) responded with 23 points and 14 rebounds for Lithuania. Giedre Paugaite (192-C-90) chipped in 14 points in the loss.
