We bring you last week's top performances from Lithuanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in VTB United League). He led his Russian team Lokomotiv to a victory over the leader Zalgiris (16-2) crushing them 84-62 in the VTB United League in Tuesday night's game. Kalnietis was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and making 10 passes. Kalnietis also added 4 rebounds and 3 steals in 35 minutes on the court. Lokomotiv Kuban (12-6) is placed third in group B. It's Kalnietis' first season with the team. Kalnietis is currently seventh on the list of best passers with 4.6apg. He also averaged so far 13.2ppg, 2.6rpg, 2FGP: 61.1%(77-126), 3FGP: 40.7% and FT: 85.0% in the 24 games he played so far. Kalnietis is currently a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international small forward Simas Jasaitis (202-82, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Mantas Kalnietis. But that was another game of his team in VTB United League which we would like to mention. Jasaitis was the major contributor in Lokomotiv's victory against the leader Zalgiris (16-2) 82-72. He scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Lokomotiv Kuban (12-6) is placed third in group B. This season Jasaitis averages: 8.1ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 50.7%, 3FGP: 37.8% and FT: 81.3%. He is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international forward Dainius Salenga (197-77, currently plays in Ukraine). Salenga was the main contributor in Budivelnyk's victory against the closely-ranked Azovmash (25-14) 89-75 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Sunday night. He was the best player in that game. Salenga scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 22 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Budivelnyk Kyiv (28-11) is placed first in the Superleague. This year Salenga's overall stats are: 8.2ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 33.1% and FT: 73.7% in the 46 games. He played for the Lithuanian national team eight years ago.

Guard Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Ploiesti (23-7) crushing them 90-63 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. Peciukas was the top player that evening. He scored 31 points (!!!), had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BC Mures Targu-Mures (23-7) is placed first in the Liga Nationala. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. Peciukas has relatively good stats this season: 14.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team back in 2005.

International center Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-84, also represented by Interperformances, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in Latvia) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Ventspils (8-2) 100-81 in the Latvian LBL last Monday. Kavaliauskas scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. VEF Riga (19-1) is placed fourth in the LBL. It was his team's 14th consecutive victory in a row. This year Kavaliauskas has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.3apg in the 22 games. He plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.

However that was another game of his team in Latvian LBL which brought him to that list. Zavackas contributed to a 2-point VEF Riga's victory against the closely-ranked Ventspils (8-2) 74-72. He scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. VEF Riga (19-1) is placed fourth in the LBL. It was his team's 14th consecutive victory in a row. Zavackas' total stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.6apg. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Lithuanian team thirteen years ago.

Former University international center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84, currently plays in Ukraine) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dainius Salenga and both played together in the last Ukrainian Superleague game. Anisimovas contributed to Budivelnyk's victory against the closely-ranked Azovmash (25-14) 89-75. He scored 14 points in 29 minutes. Anisimovas is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Budivelnyk's roster. Anisimovas has reliable stats this season: 10.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.1apg in the 54 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team six years ago.

   #8. Guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Greece) managed to help Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus to win against the fifth-ranked AGOR (17-9) 77-62 in the Greek A1 last Wednesday. Gecevicius recorded only 3 points and had 3 steals. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (25-1) is placed first in the A1. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. Gecevicius' total stats this season are: 7.7ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.4apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team back in 2011.

Jasikevicius scored 7 points and added 3 assists in only 9 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (23-11) is placed third in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Jasikevicius' total stats are: 5.5ppg and 2.0apg in the 26 games. He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Arvydas Eitutavicius (188-82, college: American, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL could not help Anwil (18-14) in their last game. Despite Eitutavicius' good performance the fifth-placed Anwil was edged 81-78 at home by the leading AZS Koszalin in the Places 1-6 group. He recorded 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 22 minutes. Eitutavicius has averaged so far 7.1ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.5apg in the 24 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team three years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Novipiu Casale in their game against Tuscany Pistoia in the Italian Lega2 (second division). Butkevicius scored 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 32 minutes. His team lost 57-72. Butkevicius belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #7 with 8.6rpg. He also averaged so far 7.2ppg in the 34 games. Butkevicius used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2007.

   #13. Former international forward Martynas Andriukaitis (204-81, currently plays in Georgia) helped Olimpi win their game against the closely-ranked MIA 82-75 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague last Friday. He recorded 6 points. Andriukaitis has averaged so far 7.4ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team eight years ago.

   #14. Former U21 international guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84, currently plays in Romania) is a teammate of previously mentioned Vaidotas Peciukas and both played together in the last Romanian Liga Nationala game. Navickas helped Targu Mures win their game against the closely-ranked Ploiesti crushing them 90-63. He scored only 2 points in 10 minutes. Navickas has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 2.5rpg and 3.1apg in the 24 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team back in 2005.

   #15. Former U21 international point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American, currently plays in Russia) was not able to secure a victory for Universitet-Yugra in their game against Ural Ekaterinburg in the Russian Superleague (second division). Lekavicius recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was edged 66-63. Lekavicius is ranked third on the list of the best passers in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.7ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.9apg and 1.7spg. Lekavicius used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team ten years ago.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Lithuanian passport:

   #1. Experienced Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, college: Michigan, currently plays in Belgium), who plays in the Belgian Ethias League could not help Okapi Aalstar (17-11) to beat Base Oostende (20-8). Young recorded 9 points and blocked 2 shots. But Okapi Aalstar was defeated 77-70 on the road by the leading Base Oostende. Young is ranked fourth on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). He has averaged so far 9.5ppg and 6.2rpg. Young is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.

Talented Martynas Echodas (204-C/F-97) had an amazing evening in the last round for Siauliai and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 36. The 19-year old had the game-high 38 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Siauliai as his team lost the game against Neptunas (#4, 21-15) 78-85. Siauliai maintains the 10th position in Lithuanian LKL. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standing...   [read more]

The Regular Season in LKL just ended. Leader Zalgiris delivered the 33th win on Wednesday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Juventus (19-17) 90-76 in Kaunas. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Juventus. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 57-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game.
