There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in Diekirch League. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Sparta (15-4) in Bertrange on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Musel Pikes (11-9) 73-66. Musel Pikes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with T71. Sparta lost third consecutive game. Defending champion still keeps top position with four games lost. Musel Pikes is looking forward to face higher ranked Residence (#4) in Bereldange in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sparta will play on the road against T71 in Dudelange and is hoping to win this game.

The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 38 points (!!!) and 8 assists by Tom Schumacher of T71.

Residence - Amicale 104-98 OT

Residence held off Amicale in overtime. The victory propelled Residence at 11-8 record in the standings. Dustin Scott provided 33 points, 11 boards and 8 assists to pace the winners. Marcus Kennedy added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning team. R.Golson answered with 33 points and 8 rebounds for Etzella as they slipped at 12-8 record.

T71 - Etzella 86-68

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked T71 (11-9) beat 3rd ranked Etzella (12-8) in Dudelange 86-68 on Friday. The game without a history. T71 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. T71 outrebounded Etzella 40-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. International point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American swingman Denell Stephens (190-86, college: Slippery Rock) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Chad Tomko (180-89, college: NC-Wilmington) replied with 18 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) added 11 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Etzella. Four Etzella players scored in double figures. T71 have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-9 record, which they share with Musel Pikes. Etzella lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with eight games lost. T71 will face league's leader Sparta in Bertrange in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Etzella will play at home against the league's second-placed Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Kordall Steelers (N2) signed experienced 35-year old American point guard Marcus Neal(196-PG-86, college: Delaware St., agency: Promotex). He played most recently at Bascharage in the Total League, but left. In two games he had very impressive stats: 21.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 7.5apg and 4.0spg last season. Black Star Mersch (N2) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old Portuguese swingman David Torres (187-83). He has played for the last eleven seasons at Contern in the Total League.
