Fifth-ranked T71 (11-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Sparta (16-4) in Dudelange on Saturday. The visitors from Bertrange managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of T71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But T71 won second period 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sparta made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a good game for the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) who saved his team from a defeat with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) contributed with 25 points for the winners. International point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for T71. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-4 record. T71 at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Sparta are looking forward to face Etzella (#3) in Ettelbruck in the next round, which may be the game of the day. T71 will play on the road against Residence in Bereldange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Etzella (13-8) which hosted in Ettelbruck second-best Amicale (14-7). Third ranked Etzella managed to get a 10-point victory 80-70. It was a great evening for American power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Chad Tomko helped adding 16 points. Etzella's coach Amadeo Dias allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Etzella maintains third place with 13-8 record having just two points less than leader Soleuvre. Amicale at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Etzella will play against league's leader Sparta in Bertrange in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amicale will play at home against Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Marcus Kennedy came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds for Residence in the defeat. Musel Pikes moved-up to fourth place. Loser Residence dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Musel Pikes will meet league's second-placed Amicale in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Residence will play against T71 in Dudelange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best for the losing side was the former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 17-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Trenton Wurtz (203-83, college: Indiana St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) accounted for 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side. Forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Dustin Scott (203-85, college: Charleston) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Residence in the defeat. Four Residence players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes moved-up to fourth place. Loser Residence dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost.
