The most interesting game of round 7 in the Diekirch League was a home defeat of 4th placed Etzella (14-11) to third ranked T71 (15-10) 80-72. It was a key game for the second position in League. T71 moved-up to second place in League. Etzella at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. T71 are looking forward to face league's leader Sparta in Bertrange in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Etzella will play on the road against Amicale (#3) in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Amicale (15-10) against fifth ranked Residence (14-11) on Sunday night. Host Amicale was defeated by Residence in Steinsel 85-71. Residence moved-up to fourth place in League. Amicale at the other side dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Residence will play against Musel Pikes (#6) in Stadrbredimus in the next round. Amicale will play at home against Etzella in Ettelbruck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Esch. 3rd placed host Basket Esch (8-14) lost to first ranked Contern (10-12) 88-82. Jeron Belin fired 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Jibril Hodges produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Newly promoted Contern maintains first place in League with 10-12 record. Loser Basket Esch keeps the third position with 14 games lost. Contern will meet at home Black Star (#4) in the next round. Basket Esch will play against the league's second-placed Soleuvre in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Mersch. 4th placed host Black Star (2-20) lost to third ranked Soleuvre (9-13) 85-81. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of Chehales Tapscott who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his sixteen free throws !!!). Soleuvre moved-up to second place in League. Black Star at the other side keeps the fourth position with 20 games lost. Soleuvre's next round opponent will be Basket Esch (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Black Star will play against the league's leader Contern in Luxembourg.
Diekirch League top team - Sparta (19-6) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Musel Pikes (13-12) in Stadrbredimus 68-64. It was a great evening for Patrick Arbaut who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place in League with 19-6 record. Loser Musel Pikes dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Sparta will face league's second-placed T71 in Dudelange in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Musel Pikes will play on the road against Residence (#4) in Bereldange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 44 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by Mychal Green of Soleuvre.

Musel Pikes - Sparta 64-68

Diekirch League top team - Sparta (19-6) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Musel Pikes (13-12) in Stadrbredimus 68-64. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Musel Pikes won fourth quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sparta dominated on the defensive end, holding Musel Pikes to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Musel Pikes 45-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international Patrick Arbaut (181-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Laurent Majerus (202-90) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place in League with 19-6 record. Loser Musel Pikes dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Sparta will face league's second-placed T71 in Dudelange in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Musel Pikes will play on the road against Residence (#4) in Bereldange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Mersch. 4th placed host Black Star (2-20) lost to third ranked Soleuvre (9-13) 85-81. It looked good early as Black Star took an 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Soleuvre took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his sixteen free throws !!!). Guard Mychal Green (193-83, college: Ohio) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Terry Bryant (185-85, college: SE Louisiana) added 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) in the effort for Black Star. Soleuvre moved-up to second place in League. Black Star at the other side keeps the fourth position with 20 games lost. There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in N2. Bottom-ranked T.Hesperange managed to get a fifteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled ninth-ranked BBC Nitia 95-75. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference proves that T.Hesperange was well-prepared to that game. T.Hesperange maintains sixth place with 15-12 record.
